This doesn’t make sense because he drew the novel seven years ago, so I don’t think so. Also, the special has been significantly edited from the novel, making it almost entirely original. So, in reality, this can only be anime canon at best, and at minimum, it will stay non-canon.

This means the adaptation isn't canon unless Oda incorporates elements from it into the main story, as he did with characters like Uta from Film Red and Ryuma from the Monsters one-shot. It can be anime cannon if Toei wants to. (I was to ignore you putting words in my mouth but nah, as I never said "only." I was simply sharing my opinion that it won’t be manga canon-keyword being "I." I keep trying to explain that most people in the community are actually open to opinions and pretty chill. But honestly, I’m losing hope because some people overthink, overreact, and overhype things, then get mad when something doesn’t meet their expectations. There’s a lack of respect, maturity, and openness to opinions. It’s like some people can’t handle criticism-similar to KSI. I really hope this means we get lightning paced Egghead. Then hopefully they go on another hiatus with Punk Hazard re-release.

We would only reach Chapter 1104-just two chapters after Kuma’s backstory-before hitting the mark of being 40 chapters behind the manga. With only 14 new chapters released, the anime would still be 56 chapters behind. Even with these 20 weeks after the 2-week break, we’d only get up to around Chapter 1108, meaning we wouldn’t reach the scene where the Elders are summoned. It’ll still be good since Egghead will be the first post-timeskip arc to have fewer episodes than chapters, but that means Vegapunk’s speech will still feel slow. Also, the Fishman Island remake was created during early Wano (2019-2020; possibly into 2021), so we’re not likely to get another hiatus or remake for a very, very long time.

This is especially true since the anime changed it significantly. The canon rule states that if the creator hasn’t confirmed it as canon and it isn’t tied into the main story-or if the characters and events haven’t appeared in the manga (or original source)-then it isn’t considered canon.
