As a generous, loving, kind empath who over-gave and was way too good to a lying, cheating, two-faced player who used me for eight years until I finally had an epiphany (long story) I'll share my two-cents if I may. I believe that these people are sent by the Divine into our lives to teach us to love, honour and appreciate God within us, and to stop seeing the best in everyone else while negating ourselves. Their disgraceful, hurtful behaviour drives us to ask: "Why is my self-esteem so low that I will actually allow another human being to treat me in this way?" Through cruelty and disrespect these people teach us to reclaim our power, value ourselves, and realise that 'NO!' is a complete sentence. They teach us how to set very strong boundaries and protect ourselves. They teach us discernment: who is worth investing in? Whom do we walk away from? They teach us to value ourselves. Our time. Love. Energy. These people who, to be honest, border on demonic for their lack of shame or accountability, are dark teachers. That is their value. And once their mask falls off and you truly see them for who they are--in my case, it took eight years, you are never the same again. You cannot un-see what you have seen. Give thanks to the Divine for these revelations. Walk away. Shut the door. Never look back. Never welcome them back. You do these kinds of people no favours by allowing any reconciliation. It's like giving a free-pass to a criminal. In the justice system there are consequences for crimes. You don't reward a thief, an abuser or a fraudster. So why should it be any different in relationships? These people have to feel the consequential burn of their actions. Be kind to yourself. I was lost in the sauce for eight years.
