They are also known as ground squirrels,, so Dan was correct by calling it a squirrel.

@summermead my husband & I were there in the early 90s. I can remember what year it was . Major wind storm took out the one of the famous drive thru Red wood trees. I believe it was located in Tree of mystery

Don't be sorry for breathing hard Dan. It's harder to breathe up at 6,500'. That little squirrel you see is a Golden Mantle squirrel mistaken for chipmunks by a lot of visitors. The last tiny munchkin you saw is a chipmunk. Something interesting to know is the Giant Sequoias have one of the shallowish root systems of all trees hence the fencing to keep visitors off the root system. Enjoy Yosemite. It is beautiful! Sorry you missed our waterfalls down in the bott of the Kings Canyon (road closed for winter) Most of the National Parks here you would have to hike to back country to see the wilderness. After you come out of the tunnel that is Half Dome where you see crazies rock climbing it in the summer with permits :) The falls are most beautiful in summer when the snow is melting. It ROARS! I am so excited watching this and wish I would have been able to be your private guide LOL We are all waiting for the snow to come to replenish all these creeks and rivers. I will say this is a good time with very few visitors. The long pine cones are from sugar pine trees. The others I see are ponderosa pine cones. The giant sequoia cones are so small you can't even believe it. They are as small as a plum and only open to disperse seeds during fires. They're known as Serotinous pine cones. Sure happy you could make it to visit your national parks :)

Yosemite is a beautiful national park. I’ve been many times and it never gets old! In the springtime the falls are massive and when close to them the sound is deffining! Thank you for taking us along and enjoying my native home state for 73 years! Great pine one finds Lou! So fun to see and find them!🤗💖

I am with Lou. Always was a nervous Nellie when my husband and I would travel to the mountains. If he had fallen down some of the edges of those cliffs, I knew I could not do much to help him get back up. As Jamie always says when Lester does foolish things. “This is why women live longer!” Still an amazing Anniversary Trip. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Anniversary Dan and Lou.

I was in Tahoe in September and a wind storm came through. Those fatter ones were falling hard everywhere. One hit the fender of my truck and dented it. Thanks for highlighting the beauty of our state through a stranger’s eyes. We tend to take these things for granted. My mom was from Oklahoma and she was deathly afraid of heights and never got used to the highways in California.

1:07 that is what you call God's country I live up in the Pacific Northwest so it's foreign to my way of thinking that there's things that people on the other part of the country have never seen and there is stuff that I would love to go see in the same country but just you know like when I went to Florida it's just you know there is absolutely such distinctive different places in this country I don't know if that makes sense or not but❤ we are so very blessed to live in a beautiful country with such diversity and climates mountains and plains and oceans and it's just amazing we are blessed to live in this country and we're blessed most of all to know Jesus and know he is the creator of every single thing and we are blessed to be able to enjoy what Jesus created
