So I have another big cleanup for you today, and it's a good one. I went around to this property to do a quote for a young family as they had a rental inspection coming up. They were concerned that they were going to fail, and you can see why. After doing the estimate, the young lady was obviously concerned about the price, so I did her a great deal and also did a lot of extra work. The extra work included all of the front and the power washing, plus the nice discount on the back. It's really a massive transformation and a cool episode. All up, the job took me around 10 hours to complete, including 2 trips to the landfill, with just under a ton of material taken out.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?

I will never understand why people let their property go like this! It doesn’t take a degree to pick things up and put them away! Obviously they have no pride of home. Even when I found myself having to rent I made sure my surroundings were neat and clean. You did a great job of showing this person what their home and grounds can look like. Except in cases where the homeowner has just gotten too old and/or weak from illness. We don't know their circumstances. (health, finances, emotional distress, disability, etc.) If they are just poor and have good health (can't afford landscaping/gardner) then, YES, I AGREE that's laziness. Admirable result. You need to have a talk with them. No more garbage thrown on the ground. It goes in the trash or put away. At some point that mother lost her way and has become a slob. Unfortunately, that is the lesson she is teaching her daughter. It becomes a way of life and then expects others to bail her out. My money is on the inside of the house is just as bad.

Oh. My. George, this was a stunning transformation. Never in a million years would I have guessed that there was actually not supposed to be ANY grass in that backyard! Kept expecting you to stop digging out at any moment and turn up at least a little tiny grass patch. But no! Such a lovely brick courtyard. All it needs now is colorful flowers planted in the bed along the fence line. Pressure washing the driveway up front was sort of the cherry atop the ice cream sundae. Glad you got rid of that big old bush out back that was hanging over into the neighbor's yard. Hmmmm. I got the sense that maybe the neighbor's yard might be a clean-up candidate, too??

The front yard looked as if they attempted to care for it but your recovery of design lines made the place look sharp. In the back, perhaps at one time they were working on renovation (all the brush) but at the same time, the look is as if time stopped. I must admit that I kept thinking that 'the lawn' would appear at any moment in the rear garden, but it wasn't a bad little courtyard in the end. Thank you, another great clean up. I see this a lot on properties where the soil is higher than the cement sidewalks and driveways...so when it rains it's always dirty.
