I really love all the lower BR Yaks, they're so much fun! These were really entertaining matches too! I feel like, in terms of being good beginner's planes, the downsides of low ammo and early rip speed actually go really well with their good performance in any flight style; the all-round performance is forgiving and encourages trying different combat styles, while the low ammo teaches good aim and trigger discipline, and the rip speed punishes over-committing and going for kills you probably shouldn't go for.

The yak-9 isn't great, but the yak-1 and yak-7b are both insanely good.

I think of the early mono-planes for the Russian tree, this one with the 7.62's with tracer belt is the best. It's fast, and it sets fires really well. It is definitely my favorite, far better than the lagg 3's.

Yes !! Yak rips easily in a dive because of its acceleration, you also can see that a lot with Yak-3U 😂

Yak 3u and 3p (as well as 3- VK107) have wrong damage models. From exploding with single 50 cal bullets sparking 2km away to breaking literally at the slowest speed everyone is fighting at: 690kmh IAS. Yak 3P is now the speed prey of Japanese Shinden and Hayate.

Not only is it fun, I feel it's a looker too. You can see this was a more refined aircraft at the beginning of production, but concessions were made later on to simplify things.

Jengar, I don't see how I can do good in these low-altitude fighters. It is all fun and games until a high-alt fighter just decides to dive on you, and boom and zoom you into oblivion. They always seem to control the fight.

they do, but they almost all will make that one mistake you need to reverse the fight. Too many ppl are too greedy.

What nation or plane line is best for beginners? Going high, dropping down for hit and run boom n zoom is fun and enjoy it but I'm not sure what planes are meant for BnZ and what are more suited to like turn fighting and the like. Every time I try and turn fight I usually just get wrecked. Whenever I BnZ and have a tremendous amount of energy after, level out and increase the distance between me and the furball, I end up coming out alive. All people will say is USA, Germany, or USSR and never explicitly state why those nations or what plane lines to use in them. Only extra info given is 'no not USSR low ammo not good for beginners.' I'd like to get going with whatever nation it is in AB first, then around 2.0 BR go into RB. Also, should I research the tanks in the same nation as my planes so I can use the planes in RB tank battles?

Thanks for the video and your other awesome reviews! I'm an AB tanker and just recently started air AB. I've also tried RB already but for now AB seems like a better place to learn aiming and camera control... I've got a question - which belts should I use with the low-tier (soviet) planes? It is quite hard to understand the differences just by looking at the in-game stats.

Persistent small error you make in your Russian reviews: the cannons are indeed ShVaks, but you'll find the machine-guns are ShKas. Just a little niggling error, very informative as always.

Isn't the low 2.3 BR Mig-3-15 (BK) better? Has much better firepower (no 20 mm tho) and greater ammo loadout.

Yak turns better, and Mig-3-15 has bad elevator lock. Yak-7b is the best 2.3 RB BR RU aircraft, IMO.

@@Sam-ed8kk so i flew out both the Mig BK and Yak-7b over the weekend. The 7b is way more agile, but the 20's are kinda shit. No overheat issues at all. The BK elevator lock is so bad...

I really respect the russian engineers that worked under that incompetent of a monster leader Stalin. They were constantly under pressure and under threat of death if they fail the "Great" leader. They had to work with what they had and they did a very good job. If their engine is weaker than the enemies what do you do? Simple. Build a smaller and lighter plane to compensate. I read somewhere that the americans and russians made a friendly dogfight with their planes. P-51 vs Yak. P-51 lost and the americans blamed the pilot but in reality it can't fight a Yak low altitude. Edit: "Yak" in my language means "Fit" or "Strong". :D

@@FunkyEspelhoCat Zero is too much to call it. Yak is like a Spitfire but a little more sluggish in turning. There have been many battles in Rl between the germans and russians where the Yaks were outnumbered and yet won the battle with next to no casualties. If the germans can't beat it at low altitude and even got orders to not fight them bellow 5000 meters because the Yak is better in every way, what chance does an early P-51 have. P-51 is not a turnfighter except the H series. It really is poor at that job. I'm not surprised. Even a FW outturns it if i remember correctly. A FW190 no less.
