Excellent video... especially helpful for me to show my young players who are mostly just rotating and using arms.

Great video, can you discuss movement of the front arm/elbow movement. I’m seeing a lot of hitters having a locked backed elbow and the front elbow collapses down. To me it lends to rolling over but would love to get your take on the front elbow and is getting to extension something you teach.

Matt, Whats your take on HLP (w/Teacherman)?

Great stuff. My daughter’s 10U assistant coach saw me practicing this movement with my daughter and criticized it saying that I shouldn’t be dropping my right shoulder, with you have to do to rotate properly, and should instead be pushing the bat from a more level shoulder position. Not sure how to handle that situation. Any suggestions?

Tell him you just started working with a hitting coach and you want to avoid confusing her with contradictory information

Explain to him the difference between shoulder tilt and shoulder dump. You have to tilt shoulders to match plain of the ball.the lower the pitch the more shoulder tilt needed to reach that pitch and stay connected

It's crazy with today's technology it really isn't even debatable what happens during an elite swing. With the use of super high def cameras that we can view frame by frame, anyone can see what is taking place. The only debate in my eyes is the best way to get there, not what needs to actually take place. In the OP's case I would just politely say that you disagree with a quick explanation why. If it is really important to you, you could always just show them examples of any high level hitter actually hitting in slo mo. If it's a team they will only be on for a short time then you could always just let him have his moment and then carry on with what you were doing. If your kid is performing then there's not much they can say. If its a long term team that y'all plan on being a part of for multiple seasons then you would probably want to have a conversation explaining your thoughts with examples and say that if your way doesn't work then we can have a conversation. Results matter, if the coach can't see that then id find another team.

2:37 "I'm old, so I can't turn super-fast." That looked plenty fast! Anyway, Matt, I've got college engineering textbooks (I used toward my degree) in my bookcase that are older than you. LOL!! Keep up the good work. 😊
