You have a valid point about a faster backswing resulting in a faster forward swing but to say his clubhead speed is over 100mph on the backswing is just crazy. On the downswing the uncocking of the wrist acts as a speed multiplier. That multiplier is not available on his backswing, and if it was available he would break his wrists during the change in direction. I would be very surprised if his clubhead speed on the backswing is more than 25mph let alone 105mph.

I think you have a point in saying that Dustin Johnson's speed in his takeaway gives him more power but the means of discussing it doesn't end with intertia. The negative feedback you're receiving is probably due to how you don't explain what inertia does for your backswing. The initial response of saying speed is the power hack in Dustin's takeaway leads to people thinking that more speed = faster tempo = broken rhythm for most golfers, effectively destroying their swing. What you should be emphasizing is how his takeaway gives his backswing more arc as a result of the speed he turns at, resulting in more power, not simply leaving it at inertia and physics without explaining.

I don't think this is correct because all that speed on the backswing doesn't make a difference when transition to the downswing it's all lost when you stop and go to the downswing

This is completely wrong. Like, in every way it can be wrong, it is.

CovenantOfAmber yeah there is no way his backswing is 105 mph
