To make it easier you can just copy the whole thing and then subtract notes as you see fit. Or just do what I do. I just turn all the velocities down as I see fit because I never know if I'll want to bring some back in later. So essentially what I do is just turn the velocities all the way down for the notes I don't want. This way they're still their should I want to add them for some variation in other parts of the song. Doesn't really matter though how you do it. As long as you get to the end result you want and your mixing works well for you. Nothing sucks more than having a banger that sounds sloppy and muddy when you go to mix. Lol I still do it sometimes. Terrible habit. It's one of the downfall's of just being able to easily copy and paste melodies. But the positives definitely out way it because who the hell wants to reclick or replay everything.

Tip, you can just copy the layers the traditional way and just turn down the velocities of the notes you don't want. This way everything is still there should you want to bring some of those notes back in later for some variation. Then you can just hit make unique and bring the velocities of some of those notes back up if you want. It's easier than having to reclick them back in or go find them and copy them from another melody.

Yeah copy and pasting/layering huge complex melodies makes mixing a pain. It works for smaller melodies that don't span across a bunch of octaves because you can always just raise one or lower one and it usually sounds good if you pick the right sounds. But huge melodies like this always end up being a nightmare when it comes time to mix when you layer a bunch on top of each other. Occasionally it does work though with the right sounds.
