Don't know about USA, but in England and presumably Europe there's no specific oil change interval on the 5 speed auto transmission, at specific intervals the workshop is supposed to inspect the oil, presumably by taking a sample from the level plug...by the way it still annoys me having to mess about underneath to check the level instead of a dipstick. The same box is found in Prado from 2004, most of us sensible owners give that ''no need to change the oil unless'' instruction a good ignoring, gearbox failure among those of us on the Landcruiser forums is unheard of. My Prado is 19 years old now and despite being in England where salt is used extensively in winter the vehicle is still rock solid, but i do treat the undersides with ACF50 spray and keep the chassis coated in marine grease.

Your average salt/ rust belt car lasts 10-12 years. Yes you can mitigate the issue with Fluid Film or similar (one time sealers don't work), but few do. The point being this car has lasted longer than most (perhaps it was moved out of the rust belt at some point, but the damage has been done) but replacing calipers and brake lines when the frame is turning to powder doesn't make sense, so they drive them until they break.

Thank you so much for your video. This is extremely relevant for me right now as I just replaced all these lines, as well as the inlet and out trans cooler lines coming out of the transmission on 06 V8 4runner. I'm somewhat a beginner DIYer as it's my first time doing many of these jobs.. but watching your videos like this for certain really makes me feel like I'm learning a whole lot and its starting to pay off. Much described in the video of what this 4runner needed is what I have taken upon myself to do on mine - CV Axles, Wheel bearing, seized front caliper, and trans line leaks. Almost identical. It's just that in this video, unfortunately his car has far worse damage regarding the rust. I pray for him that his transmission comes to back to operating order. I love my 4runner, and as a matter fact I have two of them, both 06s. My V8 has 183k, while other one is a v6 with 337k miles now and runs flawlessly. Maintenance really is key, and I can't wait to complete my v8 as a full on learning project and overland build. I just worried about the potential loss of ATF, but she feels really healthy otherwise and I feel a lot better about it with research regarding the topic. I'm happy to see such supporting content and look forward for updates this truck and it's transmission. I pray for the owner that he can keep his baby. If all works out, maybe he can look to upgrading his suspension instead of going stock - a worthwhile fun, upgrade and investment while he'll need to do it.

Two, Toyota Truck was in the title, being the owner of an FJ Cruiser, I have noticed that many FJ owners and aficionados refer to the FJ as a truck. I was pleased when, right at the start (0:16) Amed included the FJ in this KZbin’s subject. Makes me ask a question: Can an FJ Cruiser owner, generally expect, to find some relevant information in KZbins about Toyota trucks?

The xreas system helps for you to justify to your spouse buying a Bilstein 6112 front and 5160 rear set when it's time to get rid of the xreas! I had that set up as the TRD Pro add-on for my Tacoma and you essentially get speed AND comfort all in one package. The xreas does actually assist with dampening the side of the vehicle that is loading-up in a corner- but I had similar results, if not better, with the old TRD Pro suspension on a Tacoma, which was the Bilstein 6112 + 5160 setup. My Tacoma had this same issue- it literally was bleeding little bits of fluid when I traded it in for my 4Runner.

As a late member to Toyota and this fantastic channel, the rate these Toyotas rust is much faster than many other cars, especially the German ones. It looks like Toyota component specifications lack corrosion resistance requirements. I make this observation as someone who lives in UK. Thanks for the video.

Im interested to know why you didn't drop the tranny pan and have a look for sparkles. I know you didn't see anything when changing the line but since it was cold... Love your videos. I got 23 4runner just a few months ago because of your videos. Keep them coming. thnk you

Toyota-tough transmission! It survived horribly low fluid level. Impressive... and lucky, too.

Would you do a video on XREAS Suspension? I don’t want to wait for it to go out on me. I’d kinda like to prepare for what I’m concerned is inevitability. I’d like to start the process of purchasing replacement shocks. I’m just uncertain where to begin.
