I just can’t figure out which of their commuter cross overs I’m supposed to get hype to buy on Monday if they won on Sunday. Wild thing is, they have a hybrid powered performance car that unites the ability to start on full electric before firing up a classic GM V8: the Corvette E-Ray. Should have run the hypercar under the Corvette badging like they did once before for prototypes. Could have emphasized the E-Ray branding and highlighted how truly unique it is.

The idea of the differing volume levels is that it has like a sort of 'bass drop' effect, which is why I usually put a hard line before the music bits, but some people were getting annoyed over having volume warnings before, I'll try to work out a way, because when editing I listen at 100% volume to make sure there isn't any unpleasant noises that you can't hear at my usual volume, and those parts can give more of a jump scare effect than a 'bass drop' effect, so I'll try to work out how I can get the effect I want without the jump scare side effect it produces. I'm new to this and I'm teaching myself to edit, so the quality of the sound and everything else should be better with each video

@@FailedRacersdynamic range (volume differences) is a useful tool, but the most common mistake people make is having too big a difference. Striking a good balance between having dynamic range and not having the listener have to manage their volume several times throughout the video is hard without experience. It's already better balanced than your Octavia WRC video. I also wouldn't recommend blowing your ears out listening at full volume, as it might give you false info (the amplifier might clip instead of the audio file itself) as well as hearing problems down the road.

To be serious I think that this story should be looked in the bigger picture of how some American motorsport ventures have at times failed to grasp the way things are done in Europe and Australia. A classic case of this is the Group A Mustang Touring Car in the 1980s. Teams in Europe and Australia struggled to make the Mustang fast because Ford in America did not really understand the FIA homologation process and how touring cars constantly needed upgrades to be competitive.

As you pointed out the car design was several years out of date and powered by a relatively unsophisticated V8 Supercar motor, and the whole enterprise lacked the resources and development of Audi and Bentley's efforts. Of course Cadillac are back with a vengeance in Hypercars and rumours still persist of a Formula One entry. That was then, this is now.

@racingklaus False. Their European base is in Germany and is actually Swedish in origin, the overall outfit of Gazoo Racing was formed in Japan (their Global HQ is located in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture), by their late test driver, Hiromu Naruse and began competing in Super Taikyu races before their NLS campaigns in Germany. Furthermore, the 787B that won Le Mans was operated by ORECA, who are French (additionally the cars themselves were built by Mazda in-house, making them Japanese). the Toyotas that won Le Mans were designed primarily by Pascal Vasselon, a Frenchman. The Fords that won Le Mans had US engines tuned by Carroll Shelby, a US driver/engineer, and thanks to mediocre performances, were actually redeveloped in Los Angeles, California and Dearborn, Michigan, it was those re-developed GT40s that won Le Mans, not the British designs.

@racingklaus Wrong again, they weren't even called "Toyota Team Europe"(Their initial name) until the early 1990s. Furthermore, this discounts the presence of SARD, TOM'S and many other teams affiliated with Toyota to an official capacity, that are based in Japan. In addition to this, the chassis, engines etc for the rally cars are of Japanese origin and are Japanese cars (then there's the registration, as they are listed under Japan, not Germany, France or Sweden under the FiA's official classifications and registries). Under that same idiotic logic, Mercedes is a British F1 manufacturer because they base their Euro headquarters in Brackley. Aston Martin is half-Kuwaiti because of their owners and Dodge is French-Italian because they share parts with Alfa-Romeo and other Fiat Group marques. There's a reason why you don't hear the German national anthem when Toyota wins a race in the WEC or the Finnish national anthem in the case of the WRC.

Man, outside of the dominance of Audi, the early 2000s Le Mans had some wild entries that were on the list. Then again the Northstar engines gave the Menard Buicks a run for their money in terms of which had the more spectacular failures, it's a tough call between the Menard ones just turning into a giant plume of smoke or a Northstar engine grenading itself suddenly, se Smoke's famous one at Indy The car itself looked nice, but it was slow, and didn't work that well. (1) The Ford MkIV (and, that's "MkIV" ... NOT "GT40 MkIV," as it was a J-car chassis, not a GT chassis) was built entirely in the USA. The 1966 winning MkII was a GT chassis, although not a GT40. The 1968 and '69 winner was a GT40, and those cars were built in the UK. The MkIV was not. (2) Cadillac was not developed to compete with Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. Cadillac was established in 1902, after M-B, but long before BMW and Audi began building automobiles, and became a part of General Motors in 1909. In the 1920s and '30s it competed in the high-end luxury market with Packard, Pierce Arrow, and Duesenberg. (3) With your "South Iff-rican" accent, I'd be very careful criticizing the way Americans speak. Yes, some of our regional accents are hard on the ears (I grew up in Pittsburgh, spent other parts of my youth in Oklahoma and the NYC area, and went to college in the South), but are generally easier to take than "South Iff-rican" English. (4) Even the French pronounce the make in question as "CAD-ih-lak," so your insistence on "Caddi-yak" is badly placed.

I could comment on this all day. I would like to finally add that at least Cadillac came back for more attempts unlike a certain FWD Japanese monstrosity already covered on this channel. And they were not the first luxury car maker to arrogantly think that an ultimately disasterous design would beat all comers. Look at Porsche and their 1991 V12 F1 engine. The problem was that Cadillac had been away from Le Mans since the 1950s. Look at the non-European Le Mans winners Toyota and Mazda. They spent years - no, decades - perfecting the art before achieving victory. I can understand why Cadillac thought recycling a Riley and Scott chassis would put them on the short cut to glory at Le Mans. However what would have beaten the Porches and McLarens during the 1995-1997 period was old hat by 2000 against the Audis. Pardon typos.

The TS050 and GR010 were designed and made in Germany (also Cadillac is a French name, just like Chevrolet, and we don't pronounce the t in Chevrolet)

@@FailedRacers I believe that these cars were developped by Toyota engineers in Cologne but the powertrains were fully designed and developped in Japan. "Morizo" does have his history at "the Ring" I guess all great rececars have some European ties. But as a french speaker, we pronounce L's.

I thought Toyota was Japans no one outside of Europe has won Le Mans say that again

But the cars they won Le Mans with were designed and made in Europe (although the GT40's Mk4 version was made in America, it's still based on a European design.)

I made a video where I pronounced Panoz wrong every time and you are pronouncing it the same way I did. Sus.

Thank you for this video. How could such a cool looking racing car, by a make whose first Le Mans participation dates back half a century, suck?

Huh? How is the ford gt40 European?

Although powered by an American engine, the chassis was an update of a Lola Mk6, which was designed and built in the UK. Pretty much the only American part on the car was the engine. In fact, even the gearbox was German.

It's an entirely American car except for the chassis, gearbox, bodywork, suspension, and every other component that's not the engine.

bro you slated americans in this video lmao which is warented, oldsmobile were the oldest american brand and rivalled fiat, open, peugeot ect on age, they were huge from the 50s to the 80s mainly in america (like most us car companies) but died once american cars fell behind imports, like other brands such as saturn, hummer, and pontiac. all of these brands died in the 2000s inlcuding oldsmobile and they were all GM brands, hence why you mightve never heard of em, i only know them from forza and donut media if im honest

Not quite. They've also done the same joke, but they weren't the first ones either. It's a bit of a common joke.

How far back did you check for this "every car that won Le Mans outright has been yourO'peein'"? I ask because Ford won OUTRIGHT from 1966 to 1969 and last I checked Ford is a "Merican company! Or that doesn't fit your short sighted view? And limiting it to "outright" instead of class leaves the Corvette right out too (they had to ask the Corvettes to detune their engine so the Furarewes and Porches might have a chance! Otherwise, sh1t video, bro.
