Just a small gripe. I can never understand why the family surname is pronounced Shannon rather than Channon. IF the name was of French origin I could accept that it is pronounced Snanno, like Champagne and Charlotte. But Channon is most definitely an English name, so why the heck is Ch a soft sound? Should we call racecourses Sheltenham, Shester, and Shepstow???
