The 511 is very tough to beat for the price and it's excellent for whittling and carving. I like all the Moras

If I may digress, consider the Mora Robust. No, I am not just suggesting it for the sake of 'robust' in the title. Joe X tested it to destruction and was shocked. Probably the 2nd toughest non-full-tang knife after the Military issue Glock FM78. Also the Terrava Jaarrika Puuko 6" version is one hell of a knife, but heavier than Glock FM78. I usually carry the smaller version, which is still a little pit bull. Depends on what you want it for. But if you are after a Mil-Spec heavy use do it all option, with defense in mind Glock FM78 is king, imo. And you will find yourself actually carrying it because its light weight, which helps!

Mora knives are my favourites, though I'm probably biased as I live just a few hundred kms north of Mora in Sweden, so...but I have a small collection that my husband got for me over time, and though I've tried other brands, I generally end up returning to my old Moras. :)

Your Moras will not hold up under hard use, which a survival knife must. I know. Its weakness is the blade can and will be pulled out of the handle. I cut an airconditioner out of a window using serveral Moras, all blades came out from their handles. (I envision this could happen in wood, like in a survival situation also). Not many people know this because they have not fully used nor tested non-full-tang Mora knives properly.
