Reason zair doesn't connect sometimes is that it checks distance as soon as you press the button. So if you're too far away but approach it will fail but look like you were close enough. However if you are retreating from ledge you can end up getting long tethers due to this property. So all you have to do is make sure you're close enough when you press the button not when zair comes out. Hope this helps.

Zair is so randomly inconsistent and even as someone who’s played Samus since the early Smash 4 days, I still don’t understand why it just fails to grab ledge so often. This video is a perfect showcase of what it looks like when it happens too, so thank you for that! 😂

As a samus main i know why the zair didnt tether to ledge. U were drifting towards the stage, and the zair only tethers if u r in tether range when u press zair, what u did was press zair befor being in tether range and then moving into tether range, which made ur zair come out as an attack rather than a tether.

The Peach at the end didnt get shield poked, she actually jumped out of shield. Your statment still stands that after side B the shield does get low enough to were you can shield poke easily. but in this case she jumped

I think the inconsistency with zair occurs if is an enemy or item nearby. Sometimes it will not snap ledge and instead go forward as if it were an attack... Not sure the exact circumstances, but if there is no enemy or item nearby (turnip for example) then it always snaps to ledge.

When I recently landed a super missile to Bair on a Deedeedee at ledge and killed him from 80 to 100 I was euphoric! Like I had seen the light. I’ve played Samus series wide and will never stop. I’ve over mained Samus I don’t have a viable 2nd pocket main at local tourney level, but I don’t care. I got 5th place and won 2 or 3 sets and made both winning opponents work very hard for their win. I’m satisfied. Oh but seeing the Falco get bodied by a Samus here was super satisfying!!!

More than likely the tether isn't grabbing because you might have accidentally held the control stick down as the tether tried to grab. Holding down bypasses the ledge for ledge grabs

I main Samus, that ledge grab thing that kept happening near the beginning of the video is finicky. It usually has to do with if there is something between you and the ledge when you go for Zair. A character, or sometimes even certain projectiles.
