Still not enough. A lot of people are looking forward to GTA 6 and I doubt it will run on Nintendo's next hardware. However I can see Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3 etc. on the "Switch 2", maybe even as a 3rd party launch title like Skyrim was for the Switch.

High speed memory and storage are more important changes than the CPU and GPU. With PS4 specs and this higher speed in loading devs could port most PS5\XSX games. Look at the differences between RE4 Remake on PS4 and PS5. It mostly comes down to 4K and FPS, the game itself looks awesome either way.

Since Nintendo is both a console manufacturer and game developer they have a huge advantage when it comes to pushing the potential of their systems really early on. Just look at Mario Odyssey, it was one of the best looking games of 2017 and that was made a few months after the switch just came out, on a system thats got around the same power of the 360 and ps3. That be like if the Last of Us 1 came out a few months after the Ps3 launch instead of near the end of its life. Nintendo knows their hardware, I remember being blown away seeing Luigis Mansion 3 back in 2019, I considered it one of the best looking games of that year and just to reiterate that's on a system that's barely stronger than a 360/PS3.

The thing to remember with gamers on social media is that the “core” gaming audience is very different from the broader “casual” gaming audience who don’t even know that there are switch 2 rumors bc that’s not what they’re consuming on tiktok, YT, Twitter etc. Personally, I could care less about raw power; my chief concern is will the system be spec’d to net dev-friendly support from third parties not just at launch, but for the consoles lifetime. Will the system be able to keep up 5+ years from now? Because taking recent games as examples, for every Prince of Persia that runs well, there’s a Dq Monsters or Mortal Kombat that has a meme of performance. The Nintendo first parties will be there working super optimized magic like for ToTK and whatnot, but the third party support will be the potential issue

I think a lot of confusion is also stemming from how the switch has 2 performance modes, docked and handheld. I think PS4 level while handheld is reasonable as the Steamdeck was able to do it at $400 and now even less (plus theoretically DLSS will push it a little further) and the predicted price of the next Nintendo console is ~$400. Then while docked it can boost a little higher and be slightly stronger than a PS4. Expecting huge gains while docked is unreasonable, sure you can pump more power in but that means you need more cooling and Nintendo wants to keep their handheld slim and silent. I’m excited for it and will go in not expecting anything, that way Nintendo can surprise me (plus we all know it’s all bout those sweet sweet Nintendo exclusives and that portability factor)

Switch is twice as powerful when docked simply because they don't need to worry about tdp, also the dock with some passive cooling or just a basic normal cooling, could make possible for them to not underclock the chip, but going from 1.9+ teraflops to 4 while docked, is definitevely a big jump

Steam deck is 2 and a half years older, not really a good argument, btw i think people are getting it wrong, t239 is way more powerful than a steam deck, which is already stronger than a ps4, even lowballing its hardware, switch should sit confortably above 3 teraflops while docked, on ampere arquitecture that alone blows away any ps4, be it base or ps4 pro, but also the fact switch 2 will 99% be smaller than steam deck and have more battery life

I am mainly a PlayStation person, but I have to keep a switch around to play my old school JRPGs because PlayStation doesn’t always offer them. Triangle strategy, only Nintendo, Octopath also was only Nintendo. Live a Live was Nintendo only for a while. So as a fan of old school games of that genre I’m always going to be playing them on switch.

Im excited for the Switch 2. The Steam Deck isnt even up to PS5 or XSX in power anyway. The newer games you have crank the settings down to medium to low and 720p or 800p. If Nintendo is actually going to end up as powerful as a base ps4, thats not a bad thing. Especially if its small and compact comparted to those beefy PC handhelds with 1.5-2 hrs of battery on AAA games. And PS4 is like double or more the power of current switch. The Switch 1 has had some very impressive miracle ports on it. Theyll definitely port a lot of great games on the 2. I shid you not. Re2 remake, r3make, DMC5, i see all that coming on there

I love that you bring up battery life on the switch becausw this seams to be forgotten in any Switch conversation. I can get almost 7-8 hours gameplay time on my Switch OLED which is almost more then my laptop. There is not handheld gaming PC i am aware of that comes close to a 7 hour battery life

PS4-ish power with DLSS is perfectly reasonable for a hybrid system. The point of DLSS is precisely to allow substantially better performance on lower end hardware. This has been a humongous step forward on PC since it was first released that allows some truly outstanding FPS gains in middle and lower end machines, and it's only been getting better with DLSS3. If that kind of tech is implemented to deliver great performance at a good price, it'll be awesome.

Nailed it. If Switch on par with 7th gen power can produce games like Prince of Persia that, running on 7 watts, looks 95% as good as the PS5 version draining 200 watts, just IMAGINE what devs will be able to do with 8th gen power + DLSS. Fanboys absolutely are scared. Peeing the bed with nightmares level of scared. They know how good games on Switch look and run despite 7th gen power. With 8th gen power + DLSS, games are gonna be near indistinguishable from PS5/XS versions, yet offer 3 modes of play for every game. In which case, it's not logical for anyone to buy any other version than Switch 2, aside from console loyalty and irrational allegiance. I'm sure there are some ppl that NEVER play portably under any circumstance, but that's a small minority. Those ppl will be better off with PS5 versions. For everyone else, justifying a PS5 purchase when Switch 2 will look nearly identical and be playable as console, handheld and tabletop, will be futile. And they know it. Hence the desperation to knock it. Games on Steamdeck look fantastic, and Switch 2 will at least match Steamdeck in handheld mode, exceeding it when docked. I fell down the Fanboy-KZbin rabbit hole last summer and it was hilarious. So I pop back in every few week to see what nonsense is happening now. The Twitter rabbit hole seems to be a lot of the same people. Imagine 40 year old men acting like they're still on the playground at , not HS or JV, but elementary school. The "Xbots" have gotten comfortable being last and will say they're just want to play games but then, every chance they get, troll the hell out of the Sony "Ponies"... who have to win everything, even if they need to completely delude themselves to get there. The last round of stupid I saw, were Xbots claiming "Playstation had no games," while Ponies started making list that included junk they'd never consider playing, like Seafoam Stars, to counter them. These two groups are usually too obsessed with each other to fight about Nintendo, but... The series of Sony leaks late last year really upset the Ponies, there were a lot of L's in those leaks, particularly when sales were being compred to Switch's... and then the idea of Hi Fi Rush and other games coming to Switch and other platforms, hit a nerve with the Xbots. I expect it to get much worse in the coming months.

You are missing the point my friend. The consern about the lack of Power on the next Nintendo Console is very different from the Steam Deck because the Steam Deck is only used in portable mode by like 99% of the players. And if you want to play the games on a big screen with 4k graphics you can do so on other consoles or PC. On Nintendo its a lot different for so so many players. I LOVE the Nintendo Games but i have 0 interest in playing amazing games on a small screen and i also dont care about triple A gaming on the go. I only use my Swich in docked mode and holy moly some games look AWFUL on a big screen and very often its like 20 fps even with the resolution beeing so low. It will get a bit better on the next System with dlss but its still a portable thing and so it will be extremly underpowerd for triple a games that come out in like 3 years. So on the go it will be amazing i think but for Nintendo fans like me who want to play on big tvs it will be dissapointing again. I would love a stationary nintendo Console again like the gamecube or at least give us a dockingstation for the new switch that increases the power of the system by alot so its on a lvl with other consoles. But since the switch is selling well and they are making so much money its no gna happen i fear. Look i also bought the switch because i love the games but its not wrong to critizice the "only mobile" way by Nintendo if you love gaming on a big screen.

It'll be more powerful than the ps4pro dude. In handheld mode, it'll look identical. No current pc handhelds are on par with current gen consoles, but yet still they look very identical to current gen. The switch 2 will be the same way. The ps4pro wasn't even 4k, but nintendo have told devs in the past to get their 4k games ready. To back that claim, BOTW was shown behind closed doors running in 4k@60 fps as well as 2 other big triple A games. So make that make sense? Nintendo knows this time they have to bring a decently spec hybrid console, if they want huge 30 party support. Why do you think Microsoft signed the COD deal with nintendo? You think a weak console can support COD and Warzone? Think people.

Benefit with pc is similar to smartphones, they can do more than just gaming, but having PCs that's built for gaming will cost a lot than consoles.
