I have to admit: I’m a hater
@ryanhamstra492 жыл бұрын
@@jasonhalopoff2130 yeah, but everything like that started expensive and gets cheaper once it becomes commonplace. Remember when a flatscreen tv was $6000 20 years ago? Now you can get them for $500. It may never get down to $500 for a ticket but it will drop to a more reasonable rate once they are flying once a day. Where I get annoyed is when they have a bit surprise they tease and it turns out to be a tease. They announced “tomorrow we will have pricing info!” Then the announcement was “you can bid on it.” Their new Glenn video a few months back was all about how it’s going to be the largest rocket flying and what it can do, and they gave a tour or their huge processing facility, and it was completely empty and 2 days later they announced it was getting pushed back another year. That’s what gets people so that instead of being excited about seeing a new video to being “Meh” because you know it’s all more BS. I don’t wanna be a hater, I wanna cheer them on and I wanna see competition, but high quality CG animations don’t get rockets to space, I wanna see hardware.

Not really, it won't go to or past the Karman Line, which New Shepard actually has many times. The best SS2 has done is get about 10 km from it. Also, NS, unlike SS2, has a flight-proven launch abort escape system that has been test across three phases of flight and so is much safer than SS2. Not to mention, if the rumors are correct, NS will be much cheaper.
@vighneshkannan78962 жыл бұрын
@@mikedicenso2778 honestly I think the plane will be safer than the lander. If any engines fail, it won't matter because they can glide back to the runway or some abort zone. also, I think virgin galactic'ss intent is to go above the Karman line at some point.
@mikedicenso27782 жыл бұрын
@@vighneshkannan7896 It's clear you don't understand how New Shepard works. The capsule is a separate vehicle in its own right that lands on parachutes and retrorockets ala Soyuz and it has demonstrated single chute out capability. In addition to that, the capsule is designed to safely land if two of the three chutes fail, using a crushable bottom to take up the impact energy. Meanwhile the propulsion module portion lands separately using retropropulsion. You mean glide back the way that VSS Enterprise did after the feathering system unlocked and tried to deploy during powered flight? Sorry, but the rocket motor on the NS capsule allows astronauts to escape instantly and at ANY phase of the flight during ascent. SpaceShipTwo has serious blackout spots, especially during powered flight and they have to hope that the failure is benign enough to be able to shut down the hybrid motor like they had to do six months ago. Oh, and NS doesn't require pilots. It is fully automated. New Shepard all around has SpaceShipTwo and Three beat hands down.
@vighneshkannan78962 жыл бұрын
@@mikedicenso2778 sorry, you're right, I forgot that New Shepard is a 2 stage vehicle and lands via parachute, from that perspective it does seem quite a bit safer than the plane because while it does glide I don't think it can do it for long.

The New Shepard isn't capable of reaching orbit, so it'll never get there. The New Glenn, if it is ever built, will be able to reach orbit, but it's as rare as a Bigfoot sighting. Meanwhile, SpaceX has made reusable orbital rocket flight almost common.
@hirvielain90132 жыл бұрын
@@lcdrjsmasterson So far the Crew Dragon is the only thing SpaceX has got down from orbit in a reusable condition.
@smashexentertainment6762 жыл бұрын
@@lcdrjsmasterson to get to orbit New Shepard would need a 2nd stage, like every other rocket. I don't know tho if it's even an option, coz never seen one. Otherwise it's kind of .. useless.

Endangering the future of space flight. By sending a bunch of totally rich folks into space for an 8 min thrill ride that costs enough to support a small struggling town or village for a month.. Amazing work .. Real leap forward.

I would think risking one's life for a dream venture would be sufficient. Going into space, orbital or sub orbital is not an absolute guarantee of success and has its risk factors like everything else. But the risk in my estimation would be worth taking! Don't have alot of money to throw around but i wish whoever gets the chance a safe flight and "Godspeed". Chance of a lifetime if that's your dream. I bid $100.00 but will gladly do the PR for Free and give any money recieved to charity for the people here on the "good earth" that struggle just to live. Sincerly Jeff 😊

#newshepard not exactly. In the time since BlueOrgin filed their complaint SpaceX has tested and blown up Starship 11, completed 5 Starlink missions; sent Crew 2 to the ISS, brought crew 1 back to earth and successfully landed Starship 15. How is Blue Origin supposed build a vehicle to land on the Moon when they are busy masquerading as a tourist company? Blue Orgin is talking about Earth orbit while SpaceX is talking about Mars.
