Thanks for this video! I always have a hard time justifying playing pvp because it is so non rewarding. The idea of a mysterious type ball is interesting but here would be my idea, replace the gift mon with a Mysterious XU Ball that matches the tier it was earned it and make it contain a random 6x31 natured mon of that tier. Those cost like 1-1.5mill to breed but take a lot of games to earn (significantly more time than it would take to earn via other money making methods) and would be limited to one per season. This would also add new mons to your comp roster and encourage you to make new teams around the gifted one. I might be way off with this, but i dont see this impacting the economy any more than someone going and doing 4 gym reruns to breed their own perfect mon.

Yeah and if its a random 6*61 mon it wont even affect the community that much cause 1. If theres a market for said mon with low speed stats, people will still just breed yen dump for it 2. since its random you'd probably end up doing gym reruns and having to craft teams anyways

Agree 100%. Maybe it's part of the solution, let me share my recent experience: the PvP reward for the current season in OU is Chansey and in NU it's Blastoise. I NEED both these mons for E4 reruns and gym reruns respectively. So I was super happy to grind for them because it saves me so much money and I just love PvP so it's not even work. However in some season or like in Randoms currently the reward is Steelix. What the hell am I gonna do with non HA Steelix? This one is a bummer for sure. It feels bad to release it, but also feels bad to keep it in your box for nothing. I think this feel bad moment should be fixed by making the Steelix tradeable/usable in some way even if it's just with an NPC

Having a use for a reward instantly is perfect. Especially when you get it by means you are already doing. Unfortunately often times the reward pokemon are useless or way easier to get by a quick breed. Getting a gym rerun Blastoise is pretty cheap and easy, depending on how much effort you want to invest in yourself. I don't know about Chansey though. Although.. in order to get the rewards you'd need to invest in a somewhat competitive team beforehand. From your experience, how many battles does one need to win to get the pvp rewards? I am interested in pvp in the long run but I'd hate grinding battles for mediocre rewards.

@@red_dll You highlighted the problem. I'm an established PvP player, so I already have comp teams & I do get some winstreak making it easier to get the reward. For a newer player I think the reward pokemon are simply too difficult to acquire due to the cost of entry. You do need quite a lot of wins, approximately 50.

@@MindGameArcade Thanks for the reply! I am aware of the fact that pvp only gets beneficial in the long run. That is if the rewards are good enough. Still, it is awful in any game when pvp rewards can only be obtained by a huge time invest/ have a big barrier to entry. Damn, I just realized how bad the pvp rewards in PokeMMO actually are compared to the time and ingame money one has to invest. Even in the long run it doesn't get much better.

YEs TY! Having to win around 40 wins (which will be like 70 total games played if u have average win rate) for a 2x31 that doesnt even have HA is rough. I love collecting them mons on Masterballs, but its rough when u gotta put so many hours in something that isnt even worth

Thank you! The raw currency you earn from pvp is literally more valuable than any reward they give at the moment. If they’re that deadset against putting hidden abilities on the reward, a good middle ground could maybe be just making them able to breed to put on the hidden ability or fix IVs

what if you have as a pvp gift pokemon the same way as the forum catching event prize... a 50 pvp pokemon with your choice of abilitys, nature, ivs (but not 6x31... maybe your choice of 1-2 x31 and the rest are 20-25 or lower), and ivs? that is cause some pokemon have different moves and base on there nature and evs. perfect excample is metagross line. some use def/sp def, some use sp att, some use a light screen and meteor mash. you don't have to get the choice on everything... just your choice on nature, 2x31 of your choice, and abilitys and the rest is up to chance. but that is my thoughts.

Many players like me just want to do role play via a story playthrough. I got a Sceptile reward which i was hoping to use for the same but since it's un-breedable / tradable etc its pretty much useless for me.

I have the same issue with legendaries. At the very least there should be a mechanism to down level them.

I have said it many times. Pvp rewards should be able to breed with (only) each other.

PvP rewards are shiny locked since they are gift pokemon, unlocking them is an interesting idea

I second this. Even if they halved shiny drop rate, it'd still be faster to just shunt them. But it would give some form of incentive. I don't pvp just bc the rewards don't justify my time spent, even if it is fun.

Great video , my solution would be to make the end of season 10K points thing a shiny pvp ready mon tahts untradable for one i think thats as much work as finding a shiny and secondly make the pvp rewards more game centered and less pvp reward cetered like give out pvp items or regular items and have a choice of 2 or 3 every time you get a reward eg for 200 points choose Exp Charm or 2 Muscle Bands

The reward progress expiring always kills my motivation to play pvp if I know I won't have time to reach the pokemon

Yes yes YES, reform/update PvP rewards. I have like 14x rocky helmets, 12 life orbs, etc. that are untradable. I play for fun but it's disheartening to barely get anything in return considering all the time PvPers put into their grind.

Heres a pokemmo issue, you cant challenge your friends to Randoms or Randoms Doubles despite that being a format in the game. My friends that play dont train their teams and breed pvp pokemon, so id really like to be able to do some friendly randoms sometime

You actually can, but its a little hidden! If you click advanced options you can then change the "Standard Tier" to randoms :) i play randoms with friends all the time, hope this allows you to as well!

I've been slowly convincing my friends and coworkers that used to play Pokemon GO and Showdpwn to pick up PokeMMO and enjoy the PVP; It's funny logging on and seeing how many people are already online now, hoping to continue to grow the community, thanks for help.
