I got on for Christmas as a gift. I was interested and excited to use it. I've never used a telescope so it seemed like it would be cool to try one out. The instructions I got weren't helpful and didn't tell me what each piece is used for and I had to look it up myself. I also had to look up many guides, not just for the specific telescope but just telescopes in general to figure out if I was doing something wrong. I do have to say it does look nice sitting on my dresser. I do feel bad knowing I probably won't get much use out of it. Sorry mom :(

GREAT! More videos like this! When I was beginer, I bought telescope for 2 500 CZK and expect that I will see something, but I saw NOTHING. Beginers need to know, what is really usefull telescopes and whats not. According me, telescopes under 8 000 CZK are useless...

Looks like a usable finderscope for your 12 inch dob, of course with some normal plossl or redline eyepiece.

Thats the thing, it has only a 0.965 focuser so it can't fit most nice eyepieces. Also I just prefer a laser/rdf combo. If I had more space though, it would make a nice decoration. It looks real nice in person. 😅

@@astralfields1696 Isn't only the diagonal 0.96 inch? because the focuser itself seems wider. A normal quality but cheap 1.25 inch mirror is then about the same price as the telescope itself :-) What I had in mind is attaching such tiny telescope on a dobsonian with magnets and then using it as a counterweight compensating for a heavy eyepiece or something. Imagine how cool would that be.

Yeah.. btw one of the biggest amateur telescopes uses an 8" DOB as a finder 😅

My boy got one for xmas from grandma. Looking at it now unopened. Box shows it as purple. Knowing moms she got a deal. Wth lets open er.

Those toy store telescopes are all unstable and have crummy hyane eyepieces.. they are junk...but as a child they were better than nothing...
