The issue is that SJR is constantly doing interviews, so there's 2 options. Either ETH is going and then they should sack him and get someone in and that should have been done by now or they say we won't be releasing statements anymore, we have a manager and that's it. Huh? And why would they device such a weird media strategy? It's stupid beyond repair. Fact is they did speak to other managers offering them the job. Journalists, the media (and "media" includes channels like this one here!) aren't fools simply reporting this - it's their job/ their business. But if a strategy like the one you suggest/ hope for ever came out/ ever became a credible claim, they'd have soured their relationship with pretty much everybody (and not just the media): Starting with any potential manager (and their agents) they ever might contact again. It will not just be McKenna or Tuchel, etc. who will be distrustful of INEOS FC if they approch them in the future, it will be each and any top-level manager. Plus such a collapse of professional relationship wouldn't be limited to their footballing branch - it will include INEOS as a whole.

The cup final was the first time in more than a year that a United team had a plan and competed for a full game. A year ago 6 weeks into the season Ten Hag had lost 4 games and was chasing forlornly 4th place. Why do you believe that will not happen again this August/September? After 14 defeats, just 58 goals scored, lowest PL finish ever, negative goal difference and the backing of around 400 million in a year for players Ten Hag wanted, there is NO reason to keep Ten Hag.

I don't think they're trying to replace him. If they have a project, then they can't be linked to almost every manager out there. Last season Klopp finished outside of top 4 and people praised him for pulling that off with so much injuries, but they've been pushing for EtH to get fired. INEOS getting rid of EtH and replacing with Tuchel will be a waste, we all know Tuchel only has 1 good season in him. That's if he actually gets lucky. Took over at Bayern and lost almost every trophy they were favorites in, and only won the bundesliga because Dortmund messed up

Ten Hag has said he's been told he has full support. It's all rumours. Ten Hag is staying. He is repeating the Fergie method. Since they took over they have made all the right decisions, taking out Murtough, Arnold, Stewart and replacing them with Wilcox, Berrada and we have Ashworth joining us at some point. They are working with the Manchester City Council to get approval and funding to develop the Manchester area and get us a stadium and facilities worthy of the club. All of this was swift and decisive. The only misstep so far is how long it has taken them to decide on if they want Ten Hag going forward. Saying they have been behaving like this they took over is inaccurate and Sam even has a video out detailing what they have achieved since coming in.

I agree, it feels like it's a bit messy but I'm glad we aren't rushing in to incorrect decisions. 'let's sack Erik and then find we don't have another manager lined up' or 'we've had to settle for someone we didn't want because...'. I get if they are going to sack him then T&Cs around that would need to be agreed with ETH before any announcement but whichever way they are going they need to speed it up. Here’s a take that nobody is talking about: it was reported that when ETH sold his project to the board, he promised to put Rashford at the centre of it. It’s inevitable that United would use that as a stick to beat him with if he didn’t get the best out of their Manchester lad. Stellar season 1. And he sure did try to persevere with Rashford in S2. But the wheels completely fell off with all the defensive injuries. Rashford’s form, brand, and professionalism dropped. All of which will have upset the board. What’s the future now? Imagine a future where ETH doesn’t keep his promise, and plays Rashford mostly from the bench? Or would the club find a new manager who’ll reinvigorate Rashford.

INEOS, as new ownership, are perfectly in their rights to openly interview for the manager role. They didn't hire Ten Hag, and it's been well noted in the media that he's essentially been auditioning. If he stays, this entire situation is easily resolved with a club statement to the effect of: "The club has conducted due diligence with regards to the manager role under our new sporting direction. In light of these discussions, Erik Ten Hag has proven to be the outstanding candidate for the role. The club and Erik have thus agreed to terms of a new 3 year contract." Fact is we need to make peace with INEOS operating at their own pace. It will be an entirely different cadence to that of the Glazers, and seemingly with far less media briefing.
