This Show Rocks! My Mermaid Magic Review

Glad I’m not the only one who thought the mermaid’s designs were underwhelming. Tbh out of all the characters in the show Tracy “the evil sister” is the only one who stood out to me the most 😂

After seeing Winx Club and their generic attack beams these past few years, it was refreshing to see Rainbow animating the mermaids utilizing their magic a little more, like Nerissa using her lightning orbs as a source of light in dark places, Sasha her invisibility to investigate the imposter queen, and Merlinda with her water as constructs. Overall, a pretty good show, but I would like a little more depth in the storyline and transformation designs like they did for Winx Club and another show on Netflix, Unicorn Academy. Still, Mermaid Magic is a fun show and I do hope we'll get another season and some world-building and character developments.

i watched this with my bf and i was disappointed by the mermaid designs, they're supposed to 'magical' and ethereal beings from the deep but they just look like girls playing mermaid. Wish at least they're tail fins where more distinctive from one another, the princesses tail could've had move flare. I mostly stuck around for the plot and i just really love seeing mermaids move in water. Maybe the later seasons will be better

I am still in the middle of watching it, but I really like Mermaid Magic. My favorite character is definitely Sasha because I love her bubbly personality. However, I didn’t like it as much as another Netflix fantasy show, Unicorn Academy. I won’t spoil anything, but I think Unicorn Academy has very interesting and deep storylines, at least with the main character. You should totally watch and review it because I think Unicorn Academy is a great show. It has two seasons, and all the characters are very fun. Fortunately, there are also dolls of the characters, which I really love. The songs are also really good, and I liked them a lot more than the songs in Mermaid Magic. The Unicorn Academy theme song definitely gets stuck in my head. Mermaid Magic is still really good though

So did I! In my delirium, I thought Sasha sounded like the VA for Auriana in a few lines.. Same kinda goes for Nerissa, but.. not much. Especially after I found out that the chick that VOICES RAINBOW DASH (and Sugar Plum) voices Talia! So knowing that I technically heard Rainbow say "Hell yeah! 😉 will always make me smile.

Narissa was an elite royal guard and it is something that explains her behavior, I liked that the color of her armor was the color of the guards, a way to remember it without saying it so vocally often but also the armors make sense (it is supposed to be because they are war outfits) but they are very very boring and the fact that they were not given other outfits to wear at the party seemed sad to me because they are from the same company as Winxs, a franchise that was always fashionable and had nice clothing designs. Also all the characters were nice and I liked them, besides looking very cute and visually pleasing.

I hope season 2 gives them a little more oomf especially to the armored versions like not making them too much but at least distinct from one another

Mermaid Magic is definitely one of the better shows that came out in those past few years, it gives me high expectations for the Winx Club reboot, a crossover between both franchises would be nice too

Now that I've FINALLY watched the show, I can watch your video and comment! ^u^ 5:08 The mermaids attacks are still better than fairy spells in last Winx Club seasons that can be resume as "Generic magic beam! Piou! Piou!" 7:17 Yeah, the designs and the title seem a bit basics (specially considering the beautiful mermaids designs that Rainbow has made for Winx Club Season 3) At least, the warrior mermaids armors are an original touch to this show. 9:48 Witty Toys doesn't exist anymore since the beginning of the summer. But we know that Rainbow is planning dolls for next year and that some books and magazines should probably release soon in Italy.

I can't believe you said the transformation song was annoying. It's been in heavy rotation on my phone. A certified bop. Also I agree about the designs. I would've wanted more distinction between their normal vs armored forms if we're gonna do this big Sailor Moon sequence. I also wanted some kind of explanation for why they could transform in the first place. Unless I missed it... I think the merpeople that are part of the royal court can transform with the Trident Rings? Or all of them have a trident ring since I don't think Sasha works for the king like Nerissa does as Merlinda's bodyguard. But I just made that up after I watched it. Anyways, I need an Alex doll for... reasons.

if this show is reflective of the animation for the "reboot" of Winx Club, then im somewhat excited; I hope they take the very serious feedback on outfits for the characters!! But I trust for some good plot lines to be present

Yes exactly!!!! Design of that "evil sister" is gorgeous. Their hair got darker with water - amazing. And also Merlinda is real blonde! Rainbow studio is the only animation studio which underdtands that "blonde" doesnt look like most think on grownups. And in result, blondes got called brownhaired (nothing wrong about that color but blonde is blonde, everyone should recognize it!). Yeah every hour color got darker when we are teenagers by 7 shades but on blondes it is the most drastically seen. If anyone here didnt know - yeah that what you think is blonde is always bleached. Merlinda is also bleached but we can see her natural roots and she as kid was goldilocked - yey. Need to mention that Flora was probably first and the only natural blonde representation in animation for very long time (also Rainbow studio) and Darcy whose hair are hardtoread on color are probably dark blonde - I supposed that by her lighter elements which are common within dark blonde. Or she is brunette and id it wasnt magix where everyone van have every hair 😂 she would have dyed those lighter ones

I think it's the toy designer that made the outfits to be cheap enough to make for the dolls, the 3d modelers can't stray far from the toys design.

Honestly, the only reason I found out about this show was because of a random tiktok I saw about it and decided to watch because it was made by Rainbow. With a bit more love, the show has the potential to be pretty good. Sadly, do to it not being very marketed and poor design choices, I don’t think the show will have a season 2

The H20 and Mako Mermaids characters are more complex + much better written. Here's hoping for more mermaid adventures from creator Jonathan Schiff in some future series. I would be any of the mermaids from either show- Well, except Charlotte.
