I have a lot of respect for Phosphoru. He's the kind of player who creates new meta. It wouldn't surprise me at all if I saw pro players adopting some of his ideas into their tactics in the future. At first you think he's a one trick pony. But then you realize he actually owns a stables filled with one trick pony's and you don't know what he's going to ride next. I feel like he's a real test for other players. Mastering pre-tested pro strats and counters is one thing, coming up with a counter to something entirely knew on the fly is something else entirely. Once players catch on and learn how to counter what he's doing he switches to something completely new that's just as clever.

Funniest moment was when Blue's Mangonel came out and the siege tower just zoomed straight at it to drop off the troops. I am so used to siege being scary in the early game and shutting down pressure pretty hard, but the tower strat has no fear.

I always enjoy playing these games. I'm hoping the market gets nerfed though since this kind of play is completely broken because of it. There's no way to prevent him from going castle age so early aggression is never worth it. Best to just yolo FC yourself and then do monks or something. Siege towers should be used more like this and luckily other players are starting to add them. They're very micro intensive and you need to build a very specific skill to use them so it's not something that can be learned in just a few games.

From my noob's point of view i don't understand why fc is not the meta at high level when castle age units are so much stronger and people have gotten so good at defending against feudal agression, maybe there's something i'm not getting, i guess defending against archers might be tougher but then again there's the market so as long as you have one or two safe ressources you should be fine?

@@hannibalfloyd I don't fully have the answer myself but I think it depends a bit on the map and the resource availability. On some maps your opponent might not even find you before castle age so going for FC isn't very risky on those. On other maps just a handful of archers can destroy every one of your buildings that isn't under a TC or tower and deny you from getting any more resources or making any more units. I also think that with going fast castle that pre-emptively placing your first castle sort of locks you in to a particular location that is likely more defensive in nature, while your opponent can choose the most perfect and optimal location for their castle in response, which could be one that denies you a specific resource, or holds a valuable spot on the map for them, all the while they can boom the whole time in peace because you haven't started your attack yet until a bit into castle age.

I've said it before and I'm happy to say it again that Phosphoru is my favourite kind of player. He may not be known for high APM or brilliant comebacks, but he challenges the meta and makes use of resources that others have already written off a long time ago.

Fun fact, siege towers weren't used to escalate walls, but to supress defending arrow fire. (Not by tanking it though, but by being higher than the enemy's defenses, so you just put a bunch of archers up there)

Hi T90, I had a game the other day I'd love for you to see. I'm a console player who only plays against console players. I've been getting into trying out Cuman feudal ram/archer rush on Arena (with great success). I had a game the other day where as I was rushing with rams the opponent siege towered me. We both went all in and safe to say I almost had a heart attack 😅 I know it's highly unlikely you will but it definitely wasn't your average arena game! I'm a mid ELO player on console but definitely low ELO compared to pc 😅

Editor is a dumbass. It was in the legend of Youpudding 2 or 3. There were 3-4 games shown in one video and the first one was YP the other 3 were RP. It was the first time T90 played him, he didn't hit the market ASAP but he did indeed take it out with scouts. I don't even edit this stuff for a living and I know where it was - meanwhile the guy who pretty clearly just cut and pastes from twitch gets found out.

I like the mechanic, I would say just reduce the speed of the seige tower. It can be slightly faster than a full ram but really siege towers shouldn't be very fast.

Siege tower should be basically mobile tower that fire arrows and would be able to convert walls, gates, castles and other towers only when garrisoned. Peace 👍🏻

Feels like more of a bug than a feature for a siege tower to block arrow fire if you're actively clicking behind the tower. Makes sense to default arrow fire to siege tower if it's in front, but not disable from being able to high siege behind the tower

I've loved the Phosphoru strats up until now, but honestly this instant garrison shenanigans doesn't feel like a strat anymore, it feels more like bug exploitation. And yeah seige blocking arrows is strong too, but the reason he can do that is because of the ungarrison death flash.

Siege tower is unusually fast, houses 10 units, absorbs a lot of damage, and can block projectiles? It feels like no other unit has that many capabilities and it seems a little OP. For the fact it moves so fast is kind of crazy, trying to move tall things is not easy even if its on wheels.
