Do a Breakdown of how many fouls/FT chances Lakers get compared to these other teams... Like Kyle Korver famously said: "When you play against LBJ you think man, that dude gets way too many fouls.. Then you play on his team and you think man that dude doesnt get nearly as many calls as he should"

I remember when Portland tried the same strat against GS in the WCF last year, and the refs would not give the foul no matter how hard Dame and the rest tried.
@nerdgaming73084 жыл бұрын
Well remember, in the playoffs refs really tend to swallow their whistles a lot of the time, things that are called in the regular season aren't called in the playoffs for that reason. The refs allow the players to decide the game, also why James Harden has never been as good in the playoffs in recent years because he doesn't get the same calls in the playoffs he does in the regular season.
@tropicarls4 жыл бұрын
I always see a lot of people saying that the refs tend to be a bit more laid back in the playoffs. I am just a casual fan, and I'm not able to see that myself, but maybe the numbers are there
@Ryan-yu5kt4 жыл бұрын
@@nerdgaming7308 That narrative is tired. Harden averages 10.4FTA in the regular season during his tenure in Houston, and 9.4FTA in the playoffs. The refs dont magically start "locking down on Harden and not calling fouls" Harden Regular Season Houston : 29.6PPG, 8.9FTM 10.4FTA Harden Playoffs Houston : 28.2PPG, 8.2FTM 9.4FTA

Great analysis of how a great thing may not always seem that great. I love how the lakers are very active on the defensive end. Especially all the bigs. But trying to block the ball hard every single defensive set sometimes leads to an open man because the opponent has the guy jumping or even injury like we saw today with AD. Side note. Yeah the pistons could have had an upset against the best team in the west but what about the knicks vs clippers? That has to be an even more embarrassing performance for the other contending LA team..

It’s funny, in my notes on my phone, a few days ago I found something from like a year or two ago where one day I independently wrote down an offensive philosophy for basketball of sorts on what shots I would see as the best results for a possession (this based on something my high school’s baseball coach at the time I was in school did which was similar in terms of an order of desired at bat results based on either getting on base or putting the ball in play) and what do you know, the top 2 best results I put for possessions were getting free throws and layups, with the 3rd thing being catch and shoot 3’s that you can get a lot of from a lot of actions that start going toward the basket where the first two things are likely to occur such as drives, cuts to the rim (when the defense falls asleep probably after a few passes), back/flex screens, or post ups. So yes, even if this wasn’t intentionally done by Detroit’s coaching staff, for a short handed team, I do think this is a really good idea and it’s interesting to see the results; in lower levels, this can be a viable strategy in general for a team that won’t consistently get the best off the dribble jump shot guys like an Oak Hill (or whoever the equivalent in the area for middle or high school, or the state and classification in high school) with the right training and if what shots to look for are emphasized correctly to the team.

Driving the lane is a better strategy than just jacking up 30 three point attempts? ...No way!
@guyman21354 жыл бұрын
So the point is hope and pray the refs blow the whistle for one team and not the other. Laker were up 9 or 10 going into the 3rd and Detroit shot 26 ft to Laker 6 ft by the end of the quarter. I'm ok with calling fouls but Laker also drove a good amount and should have gotten more calls instead of 26 -6 disparity.
