AMEN, I've just got my first display of my work up at a local library, I agree, its hard to choose what to shoot, but just think, no matter digital or film, wet or inkjet prints, you are putting your soul on the paper, showing how YOU see what the client wants to show, they are booking this, not the plain vanilla ice cream some of us like the other flavours too.

How many mistakes have I made, absolutely plenty. Decades ago before I gave up my dream of photography I had two plans that never saw fruition. There was a gap in the market I saw, while the vast majority of photography was concentrating on "Romantic Glamour" pictures of men were boring and I didn't know how to.get it off the ground, it later became known as "Beefcake". The second as aimed at brides who wanted something different, medium format black and white with hand coloured prints.

Love your insights, couldn't agree more.. And sometimes we need this reminder, it's easy to get lost and step away from your authentic self and your own style.

Brilliant video and great message. I’m not a professional photographer but I’ve certainly struggled recently with wanting to take photos of dogs but I don’t want them to look like the majority of very polished dog shots I see online. I spent ages trying to bend my images to fit that look and vibe and it never worked but I think that’s because it’s not my aesthetic.

"You know you are different?" a person I have known for years said to me, I have also been told I am "quirky".

I found this quite a moving video to watch, for me it felt quite emotional and important. I am so pleased to have found your channel as I both learn something and enjoy the images you craft and make. Have a great winter break and I hope next years turns out to be brilliant for you.

Well said Jodie. Do what makes you happy, life can be a long lonely road. As you are dealing with people, many just don't know what they like until they see it for the first time( I'm one of them). Just show them what you do the best. Good tidings for 2025.

I like your videos. I also like learning practical stuff when it comes to studio/fashion/lighting. Would you consider tutorials and tips & tricks in future videos? 😊

Thanks Jodie for yet another look inside the business and your approach which changes according to how you are feeling rather than staying on a fixed course. I am still developing my style and had some fun while walking many construction sites for progress contracts, sure I did complete the brief however my favourites are not published so far.

Thank you for sharing this, it seems as thought the theme of today and the message the universe is trying to beam into my head is to be yourself and the rest will work itself out. I love your creative work, you are so talented please dont change who you are at the core.

You're absolutely spot on Jodie. I was lucky enough to know Bruce Smith, who is sadly no longer with us, and Bruce described himself as 'the weird kid' He said when he was younger he was always trying to fit in but never got there. He always said 'Thank God I didn't manage it or I'd never have gotten to do what I do.' His motto was embrace the weird kid, be who you are, be unique. It's taken me a long time to get to that point myself. I still do the comparison thing, but I'm trying very hard to replace the 'I've got a long way to go.' with just accepting the journey. There's also an element of 'Whit's for ye will no' go by ye.' Compromising on who you are to fit in for other folk usually only leads to misery all round. Oh and so does chasing money, better to let the money chase you. 😉
