I think the problem people have with this song is the semantic of *Money*. Most of the time to know the emphasis of a text we look at the lexical field that is used. The Bible teaches that while there's nothing wrong with having money, it shouldn't be our primary focus (That is a concern with the song). The Bible gives something far greater which is goodness following those who are faithful (Psalm 23:6) and that is beyond money. It's more about God's favour and blessings, which can show up in many ways-material wealth or perfect health, joy, peace, love etc. Thus the song narrow-focus on money suggest a lesser view of much more greater blessings like good health that people may have but belittle it because they do have "money" to their name (A justified concern for a baby Christian).

Brother Sheldon, the issue is not Christians being wealthy or not. It is very good to be wealthy and God Himself is interested in the welfare of His people, therefore John the Apostle prayed in 3 John 1:2 "I pray you to prosper concerning all things and to be in good health, just as your soul prospers". This was a threefold petition asking for prosperity, good health and spiritual progress (prosperity of the soul). Nevertheless, this particular song by Minister Badu is self centered, money centered and in no way does it exhort the believer. Paul the Apostle said in Ephessians 5:19 to speak to one another with psalms, hyms and spiritual songs making melody in our hearts UNTO THE LORD. The problem about this song is that God has been taken out of the equation, in no place was the Lord Jesus mentioned and money is the sole focus of the song. Mind you, the Lord Jesus said that you cannot serve two masters, and interestingly, He didn’t put anyone beside God but money. He could have said, you cannot serve God and satan, but He said "God and mammon", which is money. Meaning that in this world the only thing that can tamper with your allegiance unto the cross is money and no wonder many preachers have swayed and run after mammon. So the Body of Christ is not indignant because of the song, but because of its content which has nothing to do with God but everything to do with self gratification. Paul said he would boast about God, but here we are seeing a minister of the Gospel boasting about money, which in itself is neutral but becomes evil when it takes the place of God. And mind you, he claims to have received it from God and yet still cannot stand the test of the Scriptures. Minister Sonnie Badu has a great track record and a good legacy. We know he can do better, and this is not it.

I have nothing against this song but I can’t lie the song hit different in the beginning. It’s not you would expect from a gospel song but listening further into the music you find that the attributes God as the giver of wealth. I’ll explain it to you It’s simple. We aren’t meant to be poor…infact we are meant to inherit the riches of the earth. Abraham was exceedingly rich in gold and silver. But the thing is that we are meant to glorify God, our lives must glorify Him. He honours us, but we must be careful to give Him the glory. And that line between Glorifying God and glorifying ourselves and other things isn’t thin, that line is invisible. The song seems to glorify his money and his riches and not God. But anyways, it’s just a song but it’s not a gospel/spiritual song. It falls in the realm or earthly/fleshly though it mentions God. There are many songs like that. And he’s within his rights to sing…it doesn’t mean I have to listen. There are spirit filled music that can impact your spirit and immediately connect you to God. It’s dependent on the worshipper and song. And we can write any song at all we want to write but I think people issue is they know Sonnie Badu and what he’s capable of doing that’s all. I don’t know what people may have said but I guess some of them might be a bit much . But Sheldon would you lie in you room and worship God with this song and lie on the floor and expect His presence? That’s a question to ask when you pick any songs.
