This was Baby Making music back in my days.. Beautiful listening music.. The Bee Gees consisted of 3 brothers.. Barry the eldest with the amazing falsetto voice.. His twin brothers Maurice and Robyn.. The youngest and fourth brother also sang, his name was Andy Gibbs and was a solo singer.. All brothers passed away except for Barry.. I’m so glad this generation can relate to and enjoy our music.. No sex, no cursing, nothing but amazing lyrics and beautiful melodies… I miss my musical era.. Late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s were the best time for me, music wise…

Tragedy, Too Much Heaven and Love You Inside and Out. Give the other 2 a listen. The Bee Gees have sang together for almost 5 decades altogether. Their harmonies were honed to perfection! No need for autotune, etc. to help them. Just pure talent. They wrote over a 1000 songs and many for other popular artists. Melting women is what Barry (in the middle) did for many years. You definitely need to listen to their other hits. Nice reaction!

I grew up with the Bee Gees (& little brother, Andy Gibb's music). This song is beautiful & my 2nd favorite ballad from them. My #1 all time favorite is "How Deep is Your Love" from the Saturday Night Fever album, which is also the soundtrack for the film Saturday Night Fever, starring John Travolta. I was 10 years old when that song, album, & film came out in 1977. I wasn't allowed to see the movie (R rated) but I had the album, I think everyone did! I remember it was a double album (2 records) with several still photos from the film. At the time, I didn't care about the movie at all, I just loved the Bee Gees music. I also liked the other artists featured on that album, especially Yvonne Elliman - such a rich melodic voice! Her song "If I Can't Have You" went to #1 on the pop music charts. It was composed by The Bee Gees too, of course. Please check out those two songs I mentioned - you will love them, I promise! 😊
@dortheyc5276 Жыл бұрын
t's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats.This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean. I was a Bee Gees fan before disco, even though I was only 11 or 12. And then there was Andy. I loved him immediately. As a teenager, I always thought Barry and I were soulmates ever since finding out we were both born on Sept 1st. I figured that out when I was 12 years old. I'm still waiting for him to leave his wife for me. LOL Now I understand why I loved Andy too. He and Barry were so similar. Looking at photos of Barry in his late teens and early 20's is like seeing photos of Andy. They had similar styles and voices too. If I close my eyes when Andy is singing "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" or "Words", he sounds just like Barry. They were also very close. Some time after Andy's death, I heard Barry say in an interview that losing Andy nearly broke him. RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin.

This was the first single off their "Spirits Having Flown" album. All the profits from the album (which spawned three Number One records) went to UNICEF. The whole album was amazing and listening to it now almost 45 years later, it still stands up with the best of their work. Barry Gibb, the one lead singing here, has been married to his wife, Linda for 52 years. The twins, Robin and Maurice, have passed away unfortunately. So that just leaves Barry.
