Interstellar charged particles released from other stars, known as solar wind, are colliding with said heliosphere and it while conventional audio isn't possible in a vacuum, you can pick up electromagnetic signals and turn them into audio. The sound is still imperceptible to the human ear but when sped up many times, it results in a screeching noise. This sound is getting higher and higher as Voyager 1 moves further away from Sol (our parent star or the Sun), however the Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (RTG) is expected to decay and thus run out of power before Vogager 1 leaves the influence of Sol's heliosphere and the screeching stops.

If I remember the plot of Iron Lung correctly, all habitable planets and planets that housed meaningful resources, such as ice or iron, just completely vanished from reality, and you were a convict on a spaceship that was sent in this "sea vessel" (the titular "Iron Lung") to investigate a sea of blood on some stellar body to find any evidence of what might have happened to the universe.
