This spell restores Dark Urge's memories (BG3 secret - All variants)

It turns out Noblestalk isn't the only thing that can restore Dark Urge's memories. You also get a view of the past after casting Heal, and the scene differs depending on when you do it.

@@Dabo2321993 Exactly the same, both for a nat 1 and a -1. I heavily encumbered my Durge to get disadvantage. With a base Str of 8 and -2 from the Mirror of Loss and -1 from the Hags Potion I've got a total of 5 Str, which results in a total modifier of -3. With a nat 2, this is a -1.

He cannot be played as a companion, he is the only one who is fully customizable, and he has deeper interactions with the storyline than any of the others who all frankly are like side quests. He is indeed the main character.

I only ever see DUrge as a happy murder funtime thing, some of those moments where you reject Bhaal and fight against it are absolutely brutal. That one about being normal until you get the Urge is heartbreaking. "Foster parents ... how many loved ones died? Maybe that child was already a murderer."

It's even better because you may never use this spell depending on how you personally play through the game, and so even people who've played it for hundreds of hours may never notice this. God damn, I am too impressed with the work Larian has done.

BG3 is one of dissapearingly few games where 200+h of gameplay is due to amount of content, not because you have to grind or repeat virtually the same stuff time after time. No "random encounter" respawning monsters, no virtually same dungeons you have to raid 20+ times throughout the game - just a ton of content you can't fit in a single play through.

Fair to say, there was a moment in the Durge's lifetime that she/he wasn't a callous murderer. For a very brisk moment, they were alive and able to play. But even then Bhaal would claim his due.

Well, not exactly. You recover a different memory when eating noblestalk. Also Heal doesn't work on Shadowheart. (At least as a companion. I haven't tried it when she's the main character.)

I'm glad I did my first playthrough as Tav, because after the extra depth to the story and character playing Durge adds I don't think I can go back. At least not till I finally mod the game to play a kobold to do a "silly options" run.

The check is probably a one line of code bug that is just using default values. I'm willing to bet there aren't pass or fail conditions, and it was an accidental copy-paste error

You could force it by having something that temporarily drained your strength stat, and having a -1 on it. I'm not sure if there is anything like it, but hey... If there's any like it... If you're good at programming, you could also check the code of the game, to see if there is any hidden choice, or if it's a leftover code.

No, it doesn't. Just the Durge. Though I can only try Shadowheart as a companion. Maybe if she is the main character? But what I just realized, this is the state where Durge has already eaten Noblestalk. It's a different memory they recover.

Of note aside from what was already mentioned at least in old Dnd Heal could even go so far as to heal mental damage BUT ... not magical induced effects. From what I remember Shadowhearts situation is magical induced so it's out.

Durge's memory loss is, as mentioned by others here, due to a physical wound to the brain. Heal can mend that to some degree, but it's been a long time since he received it. Thus, it can only do so much. Shadowheart's memory loss is due to the magic of a Goddess. she stared into a Mirror of Loss during her induction into the order and willingly sacrificed her memories for Shar. there are ways to regain it, obviously, but such methods are far beyond what Heal is capable of doing so.

It would be possible to get a negative number on that strength roll. (If anything would come of it, that's another story.) But if you make a character with an 8 (-1) strength score at character creation, That will get you to 0 on a critical fail roll of 1. To get even more in the negative have somebody else in the party wear an item that causes the Reverberation debuff, and give it to durge before the roll, and durge should be able to roll a -3 (1-1-2). Again, probably wont do anything beyond maybe crashing the game, but still...

Oh... I never gave Noblestalk to the lady, but according to the Wiki, Noblestalk depends on meeting or not meeting the butler.

Having 8 strength is still not gonna help, because even with -1 modifier, you need to roll a 1. Mirror of Loss would do the trick, but with the state of my save games, I thought I would definitely roll a 1 faster, than it would take me to clear House of Grief.

Maybe you could re-spec your character briefly, drop your strength to an 8 and have a strength hex put on you so you'd have a negative modifier. You might then end up with a negative result with enough re-rolls.
