Just realized this video has reach over a 1000 views which is mindboggling to me! This is insane. I never thought I'd actually have a video hit this milestone. I honestly made this video for my love of this series and baseball. Im glad so many of you agree with me when it comes to the joy that this series emmits. im really proud of this video too because I when first created this video, I thought it would flop immensely. Arghh so underrated 😡😡😡 but way better than other mainstream sports anime (my opinion). I think most fans are used to underdog mc in underdog schools or just underdog schools. We are used to fast improvement of the mc and winning games. But diamond no ace is different. Just the amount of frustration of readers from manga websites shows the investment and dedication in the series. Not that I undermine the love of many fans in other sports manga. It's just that the character development of eijun, that is ✨chef's kiss✨. I love this anime so much. So many feels 😁😭🥰. Sorry for the rant. Frustrated right now cause no update this week and kousei is arghh. Better man up kousei so seido's win will be much more satisfying. They better win🙄😂

If your Dads, Uncles, or Grandfather are baseball fans, this is a great show to watch with them. Im willing to wager Im older then most that will view this video or comment, and this show stirred memories and feelings I had suppressed for over 20 years. Im not a mega anime fan, but I love my Dark Souls video games so naturally I watched Berserk. I have no damn idea why KZbin recommended Mix on Berserk videos, but it did and I watched a clip. I was amazed to actually see a baseball portrayal where pitchers held runners and catchers framed, so I watched Mix and really enjoyed it. This lead me to Ace, the attention to detail with the baseball is far better then any movie or TV show produced in America. However, what the show gets right is the magnitude of the moment and the desperation for one more day for the players. Essentially the drive behind HS and College sports. The relentless drive by the 3rd years for one more win, a few more days they can call themselves baseball players. The hyper sensitivity to one good or bad at bat, game, pitch by the players. This show really captures those themes helped by tremendous voice acting and sound track. This show was a bitter pill though also, Ace reminded me of suppressed memories and feelings I had long forgotten. Getting old sucks, I can now only dream of doing things I once did. ---------spoiler ahead-- A episode and moment that almost broke me was when Furuya was pitching a amazing game in The Koshien. I was similar to the protagonist Sawamura, I lived, ate, and breathed baseball, but was blessed with casual talent. Also like Sawamura I had a multi sport D1 college talent in front of me at my position. We would share playing time and I would push him and occasionally I had my day. My Junior year we went to State, every players dream, and like Sawamura I watched the star in front of me play a game I could never play. In the episode we see Furuya excel as Sawamura observes from the bullpen. There is a specific moment when all the background turns white and we only see Sawamura. Clever animation and Sawamura doesnt disappear, but is erased. He is so small and invisible in that moment that he doesnt matter. This scene put a lump in my throat, because I experienced that very feeling of not mattering. I do not mention this as a caution to not watch, rather the opposite, that is how well written this show and these characters are. This show will make you laugh, it will make you angry, it will make you cry what more can we ask from our entertainment?

Honestly I agree! I played high school sports and that feeling of just one last game and probably your last official game of your life hits so HARD. I think this shows the emotions of sports so well!! I know that struggle of wanting to perform at states as well! I did track and tennis! My first year with track I didn’t do well with Shotput but then the next year I trained and popped off and got 1st in my division!! I love this show man and I can relate to your dreams. Also I got my step dad into anime with this show. He loves baseball and will continue to! I want to watch berserk as wel soon. Maybe a video on that I’m a few weeks!

@@ImHitch Berserk is dark, you have the 97 anime, available here on YT with English dubs, and you have the three movies. Both are voice acted by the same cast and Berserk is one of the few Japan properties where the English voice acting is generally considered the better. Both the 97 and three movies cover the same material, The Golden Arch. 90% of the material covered in both is the same. In my opinion the 97 anime does a much better job of slowing the story down and developing the characters, and has a much better soundtrack. However, some critical characters and plot points are not in the 97 anime. It is a coin toss which to recommend, I would go with the 97 anime, and then watch the last 20 minutes of the 3rd movie. If you watch the three movies, in the second movie, your key word is 100, around that mark it may be worth watching 2 or 3 episodes of the 97 anime 13-15 I believe. Good luck, and you're in for a happy and bliss experience where nothing bad happens.

the main problem I personally had with this anime/manga when I started it was that it felt... slow... act one ended and sawamura was nowhere near furuya. but after the new season and the latest chapters were released, that realistically painful first act feels so rewarding. when/if they face inashiro again and when/if they beat them it will be the best thing in sports anime ever, because the characters have grown so much since the first time they lost against them in season 1. and they keep growing because all you see them do is practice their already good skills to perfection thats probably one of the things I like about this anime more than haikyuu. the journey is long but it makes the wins more rewarding.

I think one thing that I really enjoyed is how the show always feels balanced in terms of the Seido team. What I mean by this is that in Act I, the team was strong overall. They had an amazing batting and pitching lineup, but Eijun was much “worse” (for lack of a better word). But in Act II, Eijun grows considerably into a terrifyingly strong pitcher. However, we’ve seen time and time again that even though he’s become so strong, it doesn’t matter if the they can’t score runs. It genuinely feels like a team you’re rooting for. The team you’re cheering for will have different strengths and weaknesses depending on the roster. Although that sounds obvious, in other sports anime or manga, the team is usually kept consistent, with the main character being a first year and they happen to win the tournament in that year. But since this show displays the hardships that come with a constantly changing roster, following the team like they’re genuinely real feels so natural.

This sports anime is the realest and one of the greatest shows ever. I know that there are so many sports anime that are great (especially Haikyuu), however I believe that the evolution of their MCs are too fast (I mean the pacing of how they got better). Here, this show just gave and showed us the realest sh*t. They're not just displaying the MCs games or whatever but they also involve other teams, their interactions and development as well. How they highlighted the demons and traumas of the characters showed us the realest things any athletes or even non athletes can and would experience. And we as the audience are just as mad as Sawamura every time Furuya effortlessly tops him. I am guilty of Furuya hate myself but it always hurts a little how much he's misunderstood (? I reread the manga a while ago and I noticed that during his intro he asks (kinda seems like he's asking hopefully) Eijun if he's like him. Furuya has never had teammates or friendships before, so it was really easy to interpret his blunt words as a superiority thing. Dude really just didn't know how to people and we see him slowly grow in this area throughout the manga, he goes on to value his teammates and shows in small gestures like cheering for the. when they're playing (Furuya said at the beginning of the manga that he didn't care about games he wasn't in), and wanting to do his very best to get them further which is another hurdle he goes through realizing that he can't shoulder everything and that he needs to trust his teammates. Furuya and Eijun's rivalry is one of my favorite things about this show. I cannot even begin to express how much I treasure their dynamic as teammates and rivals, they've both pushed each other to be better. Furuya calling Eijun by his first name just reflects how close they are and how highly Furuya thinks of him. I first read the manga in the fall of 2015 and it changed me. I don't think I've ever loved a manga as much. I haven't read it in a long time but it's always been my intention to pick it up again. I will forever be bitter about the dust this sports anime was paid.

Yea! At the start of the show I didn’t like him but he slowly grew on me. I’m not saying he’s a bad character or anything but immediately when I was watching I was like assume archetype? But he gets better. I really enjoy his character later on in the show!

His comic relief moments helped me like him, not catching basic throws, being as dumb, if not dumber than Sawamura, and having zero social skills but attempting it anyway. My favorite was when he was coming up with animal names for players along with Sawamura in the dugout

Nice overview but Furuya is completely different from Sasuke. In fact he is probably the best rival character throughout the anime. If anything I'd compare him with Zoro, he doesn't hate getting praised not at all. He is actually much more lonely, he is like an introverted guy that just can't get himself understood or can't communicate well. In fact even if u see in the episode when Chris and Sawamura forms battery, Sawamura is pitching well but ofc Furuya is much stronger on comparison but he says this " I have never once thought I was better than him." He thinks that having the charisma is a talent of it's own and he can never compete with Sawamura on that. He is selfish but he always plays for the team and the only reason he joined Seido was to get a team. Don't even compare him to Sasuke, he is like the polar opposite in what he does. Even though he is stronger than Sawamura he is always the one trying the hardest coz he is like 100+pitches in 5 innings while Sawamura is like 5 innings 40 pitches sometimes 20 maybe sometimes 60 and he even throws faster and much heavier. Talking less doesn't mean he doesn't cares about his friends and he is also the errand boy coz he thinks that coz he can't communicate well he will help others have a fun time. And you compare him to fucking Sasuke? literally Sasuke? the Vegeta version failed prototype? Really bro?

I'm pretty new to anime in general, I've watched a few classics, some shonen, and about spokon I've watched haikyuu which I love (I also tried to watch knb but I dropped it in episode 10 I think, maybe I'll watch it again someday) and then by chance I started watching diamond no ace and I absolutely loved it, it's my favorite anime at the moment, I love every single character, I have like 5 favorite characters xD (miyuki is number 1 and then my boy eijun), I think is amazing and hella underrated, so I'm trying to make my friends to watch it lol. Basically I cannot put into words how much I like it. So thank you a lot for your video, I get very happy when I find people who love it as well!

Sport anime is not my fave genre but I’ve been watching tons of them since 20yrs ago (lol). Daiya no Ace was surprisingly fun to watch despite the common sport anime formula that they have (noisy mc + cool rival + injured senior etc.) My only complain is how everyone is just making Furuya a golden child despite his (imo) tons of problems (prone to injury, stamina problem, etc). Eijun is super annoying for most of the time but I like his attitude as an athlete better than Furuya, but for me the star is ofc Miyuki. Ps: for me the best sport anime is “Run with the Wind”, the plot is more realistic and since the casts are suppose to be college students, the storyline is suitable for more adult audience. I cried myself hard watching it! Pss: My unpopular opinion DnA >>> Haikyuu!

I agree with everything you said, this anime is Amazing! I especially like it because it brought me back to those emotions I felt when I watched Naruto as a child; with the losing protagonist who is always overshadowed by the most talented one (Sasuke) and who never gives up, no matter how many times he falls, he will always get up. I really love Sawamura so much.

I just finished (can wait for the next season) this anime a few weeks ago and I did enjoyed it. It’s not my #1 but #2 favorite. My favorite is Major but Major is what introduced me into baseball which is something I never would have never understood. I went ahead to watch Ace and I did really liked it. Good characters that I love more than Haikyu, funny moments, the baseball was just as enjoyable as Major and the story was also very enjoyable, the songs were amazing, I never was into baseball before, (just knew somethings or my dad liked it, but I didn’t understand the game at all) until these shows came along. Which spiked my interest since they’re anime, not only was the story fun to watch, but it made Baseball so much more enjoyable and interesting to watch. 1: Major Series 2: Ace of the Diamond 3: Haikyu! Now this is MY list and MY top 3 favorite sport animes I loved and are my most favorite.

As someone who's watched so much anime for so long, DnA is not my favorite anime. The soundtrack is overused, the animation subpar, they use the same cuts of certain scenes multiple times... the beauty is the voice acting. Superb. BUT THE MANGA???!!! Listen. The DnA manga is the best piece of work I have read in a long time. It is the best sports anime I have followed in my entire life. Sawamura Eijun is my favorite MC across every single possible platform of entertainment. I cannot EXPRESS how much I love this story, the characters, the plot points. And the mangaka?? The most beautifully drawn manga I've ever goddamn seen. It is my heart and my soul. I don't even play baseball, didn't even know the rules of it, but my love of baseball grew with this series and it's character. I just wish we had better animation for it. I'm sorry but the level of animation is so early 2000s. That's a big reason why the fanbase is so small (that and not having a DUB). I hope Season 4 gets a better animation studio...

Major is like Naruto imo since it follows the protagonist from childhood to adulthood plus both their sons continue the story (though let's not get started about Boruto). Daiya no Ace is a blend of your typical shonen sports anime but even better, the story is awesome, the internal rivalries within teams is also a good change from the typical "starting roster gets the spotlight everytime with a little splash of benchwarmers getting feel good moments" feel that most sports animes have. When you hear Grow Stronger Day by Day play during an epic moment in Daiya no Ace, you don't just feel hyped, you feel like you have been there with Sawamura and crew and seeing their struggles and frustrations paying off in a way that will make you feel proud and emotional as a viewer. Honestly Grow Stronger Day by Day is on par with Black Clover's Haruka Mirai during epic moments in terms of feel good music for any anime.
