In self-imposed challenges like endless super-expert no skip, sure. You can literally get one of the hardest levels in the entire game as your first, or a completely free level someone forced into super-expert by intentionally dying to bring the clear rate way down. It just depends on what you consider "success".

@bradlasalle28882 жыл бұрын
He cleared 36 levels without skipping. Whether he skips afterwards, accidentally resets the run, or just stops playing and never picks up the run again doesn't change that. He beat Thab's 33 the moment he cleared the 34th level, as there is no submission function to officially end and record an endless run. Even if he went on to beat the level he Hail Mary'd for and beat 20 levels after that, he'd still have gotten a run of 36 no-skip before intentionally ending it himself.
@BrawlLegendLink2 жыл бұрын
@@bradlasalle2888 In no-skip run, by definition, no skips are allowed. From the first to the last live. Regardless of when the skip happens, the run cannot be considered a no-skip run, period. Sure, he cleared 36 levels without skipping, but he does not have a valid no-skip run.
@bradlasalle28882 жыл бұрын
@@BrawlLegendLink He didn't skip until after he cleared 36 levels without doing so. So he had a run of 36 no skip until he ended the run himself. There is no "rule" saying you can't end your own run whenever you want or how that run ends; the challenge is beating as many levels as possible without skipping, so each clear you make without skipping counts towards your high score; nobody says you have to deplete all your lives for your clears or run to be considered valid. If you have a run of 50 no skip super expert recorded with lives remaining and you accidentally hit start over or something crazy like your Switch breaks and you lose the progress, that doesn't mean you didn't complete 50 levels without skipping just because you ended the run with lives left. Your standard for what a "run" is is completely arbitrary.
@BrawlLegendLink2 жыл бұрын
@@bradlasalle2888 You just don't want to accept the fact that a NO SKIP RUN is defined by not using any skips in the run. When Ryu skipped, the run was not over --> that run cannot be called a no skip run. Simple. If your switch breaks or you start over, that is not a skip.

I feel like that really hard coin could be gotten by jumping out of the claw to the right of the mech after it has destroyed the blocks. Land on the mech and knock it out, then stand on top of the icicle and grab the mech, then jump right back into the claw and throw the mech left so it hits the coin. Not nearly as bad as trying to actually land on the block with the coin yourself. I *think* sleeping mechs can collect coins when thrown directly into them by you. Just not once they've landed.

That level's gimmick wasn't a slot machine IMO; it required you to be able to control Mario very minutely, as bouncing on the right side of the piranha gives you small variation in the bounce that you can use to gauge when to move to the right. Of course you can brute force it like a slot machine, but definitely does not seem to be the intended solution, considering all the rest of the overly-precise motions required before.
