I would prefer working the 5 food tile from the beginning; it delays the scout by 2 turns but you would get to 2 population 5 turns earlier.

My thoughts exactly and even something Potato has said countless times.
@marciusnhasty15 сағат бұрын
It's a judgment call on this map. Food is abundant, and growth isn't a problem. He didn't take god king which he always does. When you make a mistake to prioritize production in turn one, you can sometimes fix it by doubling down on it like that.
@theorixlux12 сағат бұрын
Potato saved 1 production over 8 turns. Comapre working the 2-2 tile 1st instead of the 5-0 tile: After 8 turns: 1 pop + 16 prod VS after 3 turns: 1 pop + 0 prod other 5 turns: 0 pop + 15 prod (by working the woods and tea tile after getting a pop to maximize production)
@sagov910 сағат бұрын
@@theorixlux yeah I would probably continue working the 5 food tile after those 3 turns too, so to do the same calculation after eight turns I would have 24 food more for 6 production less. Actually within those eight turns we would reach 3 pop already so the reduced amount of production is even less.
@theorixlux10 сағат бұрын
@sagov9 yeah, but what good is more pops if you can't build anything to support that?

Potato, if you see this, at 7:10 u are wondering if the mountain range is connected. You can very easily check this without going there. connected mountain ranges always share the same name. so if the mountains on both sides have the same name they are connected. if not than there is a passage
@yurisoares25966 сағат бұрын
You can also use look for Appeal, since mountain gives +1, so that grassland would have +4 for not connected and +5 for connected.

Two more important notes about Nihangs. They scale much earlier than melee units. The techs that unlock your encampment buildings are researched before the techs that unlock stronger units. For example the barracks is unlocked with bronze working but swordsmen are unlocked with iron working and men at arms with apprenticeship. They also don't cost strategic resources to produce or upkeep. So you aren't screwed if you don't have iron or niter.

I think he decided food was going to soon enough be surplus (suffer housing penalties?) or at least not the limiting factor of his growth, rather looking around at only a single 2 production tile he could see that for a long time to come production would be the bottleneck, so he chose to harvest according to long term strengths and weaknesses of the tiles.

The biggest problem I've always had with warlike civs like Alexander being in my game is that he won't like me if I don't go to war but if I do... Alexander is denouncing you: "YOU BASTARD, how DARE you go to war with your neighbors" (you have inflicted grievances on others). Aggressive civs should be programmed to care less about grievances than peaceful ones. Ghandi should take it very personally (like 150% grievance impact on his relationship with you), Alexander should get a 99% reduction to the relationship penalty you take with him for inflicting grievances on others.

25:17 isn’t it a mistake to go for mosque first? You don’t benefit from them until you build them unlike cross cultural dialogue which immediately pays out. I've rarely played on any difficulty higher than King. Is Deity fun? One thing that appals me in games is where they supplement difficulty with bullsh*t. I know AI start off with extra warriors on higher levels. Probably more damage too. And people have said "Well how else would they make it harder?" My answer is, better and strategically aggressive AI. Consider this, when you play Chess on Beginner level. Does the board look different if you go expert against AI? Dose that Master AI suddenly have Rooks that can go diagonally and pawns become queens 3 spaces sooner? It CAN be done. But it seems like for some strategy games, battling AI with numbers are bigger than yours is universally recognised as lazy level scaling that just makes a 3 minute battle last 12 minutes, but for other games it's like "What else could they do?"
