Overnight paper trade on TNON, 20,000 shares @ $4.64 just before close on Thursday on a hunch. Closed position Friday at the opening bell up $202,600 (At high it was up $2.5M, woke up at 5:54 am at $732,000) Not sure why I can't paste a picture but to say this go me going this morning is an understatement
@drasa997Ай бұрын
crazy lol... instant millionaire. Though moving that big a position in the morning wouldve been difficult with how thinly traded this was. Remember: on paper your orders always get filled. In real life you mightve only been able to sell a few k of that at the real good prices. But hey good news even if you got stuck you wouldnt have lost money and couldve slowly sold through the rest of premarket/open with that entry lol. so the 200k pretty realistic and crazy gain.
@reconhueyАй бұрын
@@drasa997 Yea it was definitely crazy. I was getting real bummed out watching it drop from $732K to $202K before I could close the position, but it was still super exciting. Thing is, I've been pulling off several big paper trades lately during regular hours but my real trading accounts keep going down. Last week's paper trades Mon $42K, Tuesday $23K, Wed $ 8400, Thursday $6500, Friday $202K. However, with my $15 K cash account and 30K Margin account I'm down $2k for the week. I tried Ross's 2 week trial a couple of weeks ago but since I couldn't ask questions in the chat it was a little frustrating but well worth the trial. I'm so ready to turn my P/L curve upward and although the paper trading is great, it also seems to be giving me at least some false confidence.
@charliemcgrainАй бұрын
TNON. Very dangerous. I went long at $90 by the time my order filled it had spiked to 120 and then shot back down to $60. It was moving so fast the spread could not follow it. I went red really badly. Thankfully I ended up getting back into the green by the end of the day. I keep asking Ross to do a video on the dangers of "chasing." Unless you wait for a stock, that looks normal in every other regard, price, volume, catalyst, etc, to prove itself on a pullback, you could lose your house. YOU COULD LOSE YOUR HOUSE IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS FLAT. Be careful. If it looks too good to be true then it definitely is too good to be true.
@skywalkker007Ай бұрын
This is exactly why I hate chasing
@modulusArchАй бұрын
Agree 100%. It was like chasing a tasmanian devil and aside from one spot where it calmed down a tad, I felt the risk wasn't worth it cause if you were high and that knife dropped back down to 9,8,7-ish, that would have been very, very bad.
@Phanze_airsoftАй бұрын
Lol you are a totally amateur trader or what you thought? 😅 you went long at 90$ thats mean you are just a tipical gambling addict not a trader. You need much more discipline or you will lose everything soon.
@drasa997Ай бұрын
yup... I didnt even notice until like $30 and felt it was chasing at that point.. turns out it wasn't but it very well couldve just knifed down even there. I was focused on the trades on my watchlist radar and NO ONE had TNON listed lol.

@@Milen983 sure - but you could say that for every stock. I agree with Ross that no one should have Fomo on this one. The sad thing is I was holding a tiny position that skyrocketed on a relatively volume. The sad thing is I was fast asleep at that time as it was 1:30 am local time. Another opportunity was about 5:30 am local time when it went up again and I woke up then but from my previous experience of losing on premarket trades, didn’t even check to see what was happening. The third was when it was halted, I missed the peak, held with a hope of the shred of the premarket miracle happening again, and sold with minimal gain. Bought another small portion, on which I lost. Lost on another loser holding it forever, then another loser. Red, not huge, but significant. Sick of losing most of the time.

After a little under 2 years of trading I've been seeing success the last 3 months (consecutive green months) but today & yesterday I lost 38% of my account in 2 days... I just couldn't cut my position and kept holding until I finally sold, and I did the exact same thing today. It feels unreal losing 3k at 18 in 2 days after finally seeing so much progress and I'm pretty sure I kept holding because I just couldn't bare wiping out my weeks profit at the time after having my biggest green day last week! The thing is I don't even feel that emotionally down as I feel I should, any tips for recovery before Monday?

This is very common, I think every trader goes through this when you have a nice steady gain then 1 loss you give back all of the past profits. The trick is when you grow your account day after day people tend to change strategy instead of stick to what is working. like you said you did not want to take the loss.. it happens! don't let it beat you up

I trade this the night before it rise, it was a red trade. And I was so frustrated and held overnight. The next day I open the broker and suddenly I get one more zero in my account....

Might be an ignorant question, but how did you guys manage to catch on to this stock? I feel like I’m missing a lot of opportunities.

@@DaytradeWarriorthanks for the reply Ross! I was using the thinkorswim gap scanner but I guess it’s not very good. Will start using yours 😊

My big move today was on XXII, buying it pre market expecting it to continue the upwards pattern but then losing like 20% on the trade in 10 minutes.

So Ross, you don't normally feel like you have to make sure, on a second by second basis, that there is sufficient liquidity for you to get out immediately, right? This situation is special?
