The victim, encountered under the name Jeffery Parrott, claimed to serve in the military on a special assignment (UN peacekeeping)in Istanbul. The victim believes he was a Nigerian scammer who targets women trying to get Apple, iTunes, and Steam gift cards from women. She said he had over 1.7k friends on a Facebook profile. After meeting on Facebook the next day, he asked her to download the Signal application for a supposedly more secure network due to military reasons, using the name “Jeffrey Brock” on that platform. After one month of talking to him, she started getting suspicious after receiving the attached letter (UN Military Defense Base Department for Food and Medications).
The victim sought proof of authenticity and requested a military ID and a video with specific details, such as saying her name three times, but the imposter evaded the requests and came up with excuse after excuse. The victim asked him to send her his email address, and he did, but then he became suspicious of her when she asked why he didn’t have a military email address at that point, he became defensive and kept asking me what she was up
The victim emphasized that the imposter refused to video chat or provide a military ID. At that time, she knew that everything was a scam.
She shared her story, wants the world to know about Ramon Parrott, whose identity was stolen and used by a scammer, and hopes to raise awareness.
