He should have made a castle sooner and built 6 docks in front of it. He had a lot of time before viper reached imp, researched chemistry and made canon galleons. Doing that will give you a small time window to win back water. The only problem is that your imp will be a bit later that way.

I thought the same thing watching this, but thin about it that way: Yes, there might be a chance against lower elo players, but I don't think it would have changed a lot here. Due to the fish viper has a much better Economy. The enemy adding 6 docks and pumping out units would just result in viper adding 1 or 2 docks, pumping units out as well and always be ahead on military AND economy. He can make as many docks as he wants, has more economy to produce and the bigger fleet already on the map. By doing it earlier the enemy would also have a much weaker economy than he had here, reach imp even later and not have a chance as well.

@@4everdex He has a few fishing ships, but his opponent has a 4 tc boom. So no, Viper's eco was absolutely inferior. Look at the stats rigth at the end, he literally had half the total villagers. And he wasn't making any navy either, because he had to save up his resources for imp and chemistry. So his opponent could absolutely get back on water. However, castle vs imp would probably end up in a loss anyway. But at least he'd have a significant chance. I really think Viper was overestimating his position.

It doesn't matter at this stage. You need more than double the amount of thirisadais in galleons, or caravels to beat them. This leaves fire ships or demos, but dravs have fu demos as well. Viper got to imp first and started pumping out thirisadai. It was over by then.

the guy with 1 tc will likely be 1st to imp no matter what if you play the game properly. If you commite to castle earlier -> you lost water earlier -> opp lost and so invested few in extra ships -> opp faster in imp as well. So this way you trying to cut corners but it's double edge sword: you cut corners for opponent as well. Even you you imp faster and have more cannon galley it makes nothing of it cause if you have 10 imp galley vs 40 castle galley you will lose water with a dive anyway. And no amount of cannon galleys can make difference in that case (same as 1 castle won't stop 40 galley from diving on).
