Stratocaster is the Swiss army knife of electric guitars, comfortable, if not fantastic, in virtually any genre, from Holly to Hendrix, Buddy Merrill (Lawrence Welk) to SRV to Lincoln Brewster. Mine is '12 AmStd, bought new, all stock, Fat 50s. Yes, you can change parts, but doesn't seem necessary. Also used in a worship setting. Glad to see you have a worship specific channel, should get lots of traffic.

I have the same HSS Setup and use it the exact same way, glassy, edge of breakup neck pickup tone, flip to the bridge and get a near Les Paul growl. Enjoying your worship channel, too.👍

Thanks for the tip. It seems that we use more or less similar technique regarding the tone. I play in the church too.

You’re welcome, Rick! I use up fairly big pedal board, but I still like to keep it simple with my core tone. Thanks a lot for leaving a comment. Happy Sunday to you! Blessings my friend.🙏

For years, I turned all my knobs up to 10. When you do that you miss out on so many good sounds. So I’m glad the lesson was helpful! I appreciate the feedback here. Have a great weekend Alan.🙏

I use a 2006 USA Highway One Strat that used to be HSS configuration, but now only has 1 bridge humbucker and a volume pot. I love the simplicity. For me the Strat's body contours make it the most comfortable guitar to play, but I love the bigger fatter tones of bridge humbuckers ala Gibson.

Great video Rusty! I build guitars and I just minutes ago sold my three SC Strat. But I still have a two humbucker Strat that is a solid rock machine. I agree a H S S Strat would be the perfect guitar but I really love P-90 guitars. Kind of the best SC guitars going.

The similar reason why I use the Fender Stratocaster. It's very versatile and it's lighter than the Les Paul. Also the contoured body does not dig into my ribs when I play. I'm using the 2016 Elite for my worship sessions because it has the S1 switch that I can use to configure the single coil pickups to humbucker style and the 2004 Highway 1 Strat as my practice / back up guitar.

I like to use my Boss BD2 all set to 12 oclock. Also have my tube screamer to double up with gain at 3 oclock. So when I want to go crazy, I just step on the pedal and away it goes. Also a delay gives it a little more thickness when I need it. Cheers, Rusty, your lessons are invaluable. Keep them coming.

Rusty! 1) Love both your channels! 2) This lesson has been something I’ve been thinking about for awhile. Had many discussions of sound with my worship leader, and I’m sending him this link because it’s a good starting point. (He’s a keyboard guy) I’m nowhere in your class, but learning more and more. 3) A setup like yours has been gelling in my head for awhile. I use a Digitech RP-7 multi-effects pedal now but not real thrilled with it. (Hard to program too) Your tonal setup is so versatile. I hope I can replicate it with a Squier strat because I can’t afford the real thing. Borrowing the leaders Strat at church but would like one for home to practice.
