This Swiss Restaurant Is Built Into the Side of a Mountain

This restaurant in Weissbad, Switzerland, is remote, to say the least. Perched on the side of a mountain in the Swiss Alps, it’s at an elevation of about 5,000 feet above ground level. Even if you take a cable car, you’ve got to hike steep terrain at least part of the way. That said, it’s a beautiful journey that takes you through a 40,000-year-old cave and by a chapel carved right into the mountain. And you’re following in the footsteps of hungry hikers who have been trekking to this restaurant for 173 years.

She didnt build it. its over a 100 years old. and it most likely started as a hickers cabin for hickers to sleep in when they climbed the mountain

Was here in April last year during the lockdown. We hiked all the way there no cable cars. And we were the only tourist there apart from the workers. We sat there and had a ong chat with them then hiked to the top. She was very amazing.

Now it’s just really weird to see places you’ve been to being prompted on KZbin especially bc they really don’t need to :)) I was there with my grandma and she told me that the owners change quite often bc there are just that many tourists and it’s really stressful bc getting food and basically anything up there is just really difficult Non the less it’s absolutely beautiful and I would highly encourage everyone to visit !:D

This reminds me a little bit of the tea house hikes you can do in the Rocky Mountains in lake Louise. However for those ones it is a 6+ kilometer hike in and they do not have electricity due to the remote nature of the place.
