Holy smokes these are intricate! So good! Each time I thought "that's so tiny!" you just got tinier! (i.e the candles, and then the flame on top!) 😱 Also fun fact, Henry Selick directed BOTH Coraline and Nightmare Before X-mas (although Tim Burton was the instrumental creator for Nightmare). For writing script on tiny things like the cake, I wonder if using a technical pen would work? I use it for small projects; although I'm not sure how if would perform on clay and/or survive the baking process. May be worth testing though, just to have more tools in your kit. Anyways, fun vid!! 🙂 Happy Halloween! 👻

Wait, what? Editing this video was the first time I’ve ever heard of him. Now you’re telling me he was the primary reason I had nightmares as a kid 😭 in all seriousness though, is this a common misconception or have I just associated Burton with everything that scared me growing up? 💀 Thank you so much btw!! ❤️ I’ve never tried using a technical pen before, but I have tried a fineliner on clay (which didn’t go well lol) I’m not really sure on the differences between them though, so maybe I should look into that 😅

Hold up isn’t this movie also known as Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas? I’m so confused 😭
@szinyk
@szinyk Жыл бұрын
@@ithecrafter Right??! It's confusing for sure. 😂 So, Tim Burton "conceived and produced it" (i.e. he came up with the story, the characters, and co-wrote it as a musical along with Danny Elfman.) But wikipedia says "Burton could not direct because of his commitment to Batman Returns, and he did not want to be involved with "the painstakingly slow process of stop motion." So he was probably like the over-seer of the whole project, just not involved in the actual months-long stop-motion direction.

@@ithecrafter Also, technical pens are great for drawing and inking; they have a precise widths (like 0.3mm, 0.01mm, etc). But if you've tried a fineliner, then the same problem of ink-on-clay would probably happen. ....Maybe a thin acrylic paint-pen? 🤔 Anyways, the transfer-method you used worked great, just seemed very intensive, lol.

Well Actually, Henry Sellick Directed both Nightmare before Christmas and Coraline. apparently Tim Burton wasn´t even very much involved. however Disney used his Name for Marketing Purposes. but hell, these things are so pretty i love them!

That makes sense! I’ve always seen his name attached to it, so I never even questioned if anyone else had directed it. Also you’re very kind, tysm 💕

I read the book for the first time in the 6th grade. (2002) I was obsessed. So obsessed that I managed to check it out from the library 16 times between 6th and 8th grade. So, when the movie came out my senior year (2009) I was stupid excited. I was finished with school by the time it came out in theaters (Feb '09) but I was supposed to be at school that day for some reason I've since forgotten but i skipped so that I could go to the early viewing... It was a Thursday. 🤣 I called it my very own senior skip day. So when Mac Miller wrote a song called Senior Skip Day the following year (2010) it immediately reminded me, and still does, of how I spent my own senior skip day... catching a bus to take me 50 miles to the nearest town with a theater to see Coroline in Theater of all things. ROFLMAO. But anyway, I ended up seeing it 4 times in theaters. I even pre-ordered the DVD and spent many a nap times (I was a nanny) cleaning to Coroline playing in the back ground. Ahhh, the good ol' days. Now I need to go watch Coroline.

Wow you weren’t kidding when you said obsessed 💀 I’ve never read the book before, but I’ve heard that it’s really good! 16 times tho? Okay, you’ve convinced me. I’m gonna read it this weekend! Also, glad to hear that you were having the time of your life while I was being extra nice to my parents, so the other mother wouldn’t come for me 😭
@KindraShalynnHaimberger
@KindraShalynnHaimberger Жыл бұрын
@ithecrafter Well, the fact that you were being extra nice to your parents says more about how much you respected your parents and how good of parents they were given that you feared the Other Mother would come for you. I didn't have a Dad, and my mother wasn't a good mom, nor was/is she a good person in general. It wasn't an uncommon experience for me to have to beg her to let me go to school. So you know, there's that. 🤔 sounds kinda sad reading it back to myself but that was my reality. But YES YES YES! Definitely read the book! I promise it is so so so much better than the movie. Although, for someone who is reading this book for the first time after having already watched the movie, you'll definitely have to remind yourself that the book came first and then rewatch the movie with fresh... dare I say it? Yep! Eyes. You'll definitely want to rewatch the movie with fresh eyes... Or buttons. You can take your pick!😉 🤭
