With the glass, their window retention system to make sure the window stays all the way up failed slightly during the sledge hammer test and since the glass wasn’t full in the frame it was weakened significantly and had less points to disperse the pressure. This is why it broke

About that glass, it stopping the steel ball is pretty impressive. Do that with regular autoglass it would demolish the window. 9mm isn't a particularly powerful round. When bullet proof glass is shot it fractures like that. It can look disappointing to people who expect it to just bounce off. They should get away from hyping the bulletproof aspect unless it is NIJ rated to be that resistant.

Assuming that's a 4" steel ball bearing it would weigh 150.4 oz. A typical 9mm bullet (115grain) weighs 0.26oz and travels 682mph. That means he would only have to throw it about 19mph to equal the force of said bullet and it looks like he threw it a bit faster than that. Another thing to consider is that is a hardened steel ball bearing and not soft lead. A very small ball bearing only 1/2" or smaller is all you need to shatter any normal car window as seen on those glass breaking safety hammers.
