It's more like what Google did to it. Google simply refused to port their apps to Windows Phone. So we had no KZbin, no Maps, no Google Search, Drive, Docs, etc, etc, etc. If they had supported Microsoft the same way they support Apple, Windows Phone could've really gone in a totally different direction.

@theryanthomas2 ай бұрын
Gradually is an understatement 😅 it's been 10 years
@aserta2 ай бұрын
"Scared" - you mean, complacent in having found the cheapest format - to squeeze the most amount of money from people. They're all complicit in it too. Look up how much it takes to make an apple phone, there's part by part (yes, part by part) breakdowns of these phones. Some extremely detailed that add up even with the costs of factory setups from industry insiders and anonymous employees. They cost almost nothing when accounting for scale. Yet... you have to pay $$$$ for it... for some reason. It's akin to the clothes washing machine industry. In the 90's when the peak was reached, a washing machine was made from metal, metal, concrete and more metal, with barely any plastic. Nowadays, the tub is plastic, the drum is plastic (with a thin veneer of stainless on top), the motor mounts are plastic, the gas shocks have been replaced by plastic supports that hold cheap springs inside, sometimes nested one in another to add up, and the shells are so thin, they use plastic spacers to support them from the inside, so that when you move the thing initially or touch it in the show room, you don't get the impression you're touching metal so thin, you could literally poke it with a pear knife. Oh and even more concrete. Like i have an 03 machine that i've kept running through maintenance and aggravation at cheap modern trash. There's only 3 kilos worth of concrete inside, that act out as balance for the main stainless steel drum and tub. By comparison, the modern machine my parents have (a 22 model) has about 14 kilos of concrete. On plastic. Adjusted for price, the new machine is much more expensive than my old robust machine, where all i have to do is occasionally change the bearings, put new brushes in the motor every three or four years and only because i want to. I could leave them be to last even more. When i'll throw my parent's machine in the trash in a couple of years, and help them install a new one, mine will still work. And probably (by that time), i will upgrade it with a pi computer for special washing programs that the old mechanical clock driven "computer" brain didn't have, just because i can, and have something to build on. There's nothing "scared" in the process. It's on purpose. They took Bernard London's "planned obsolescence" the a new peak.

A note about the binning part. 1020 (&808PV) use actual binning, relative to what we get these days. What we have these days are multi-bayer sensors (most commonly quad bayer), whose "binned res" is actually the native res. 48/50/108/200MP sensors, are all 12-12.5MP* in reality. This is obvious whenever you use "high res" mode and there's barely any more detail. Of course, in more extreme cases and with very efficient remosaic algorithms, it can net more detail than the native resolution, but it's still a far cry from the touted number. It's worth mentioning that, even the 200MP sensor(s), that are 16-bayer sensors, still use a single ADC behind all that "pixel cluster". Multi-bayer sensors were created for HDR & improved noise performance, not resolution. If you're ever bored, I'd give the xiaomi mi note 10 a try (or Mi 10/Pro/11) as it uses the first-gen "108MP" sensor, S5KHMX. It's natively 27MP, and trust me, when you look at sample images, you can tell. Also still to this date, imo, one of the best .RAW outputs out of any phone. (btw, the Nokia 9 strength was the RAW files, hence multiple same sensors)

The long time it take to process your picture is probably the fact that it took real 41mp images. It will create huge buffer in memory to read and transfer all of those data. And especially if you take RAW DNG, it will need a lot of time to clear the buffer. DNG files require huge memory buffer and takes a lot of time to clear the buffer. A proper camera still need to do this but obviously they can do it at mch faster speed. The reason why most smartphone today don't have this buffer is simple - they don't take the same amount of megapixel they were advertised as and they don't take DNG files.
