That doesn't seem to be the case yet. You still have to use a separate input for each track, which means you can't use the X/Y or MS capsule. I suspect each track has to be mono, if you choose to overdub, hence the issue.

Maybe you can try a headphone/mic combo, as in Audio Technica M50's and a Blue USB mic. They're generally quite good on their own and very detailed as a combo.

Audio devices don't advance in the same way as cameras do. The H6 is still as relevant today, as it was a few years ago, if not more.

Yeah this recorder's pretty good. My friend Neal Ewers has 1. Only problem is it doesn't talk. Now this isn't a problem for all blind people especially if they've just had to sadly suck it that these things never spoke in the past like Neal has had to, but for me it is. I get lost if the menus don't talk on the machine like they do on the Olympus DM recorders and some LS ones. I could use this and I do like the 6 mikes thing cause that's 5.1 dude. But I'd ask a sighted person to set it up for me and then I'd just have to be happy with it and forget it. Cause I wouldn't really be able to dive into menus until the sighted person that helped me originally came back or someone else helps me. I wish these guys would learn from Olympus. I really wish Sound Devices would learn their lesson from Olympus.

The mid-side capsule is also a stereo microphone. You should have referred to the other capsule as the X-Y mic, not the stereo microphone. It would have been better if you'd been talking whilst unboxing rather than rushing the commentary because you'd pre-recorded the video.

When it comes to drums and using, we say, an SM57 to the snare for example. Do someone know if the Zoom H6 will record better audio than a Zoom R24 or will it be similar? I've read that the H6 has better audio recording than R16 though.

Please tell me that grey plastic isnt coated with that rubbery coating that goes to crap in 5 years or so....that nonslip rubber coating....its on grundig radios and all manner of electronics...and it fails and becomes sticky later. Crossing my fingers its just flat colored plastic.

That is a great bit of kit, I wish I had even half a reason to go and buy one at the moment. The sound from the SM7B was kicking, a big difference when you went back to the lapel mic. I love how small high quality audio gear is these days!

Yes you are right a lot of 17-year-olds live without their parents help but he's not one of them I gathered it from what he says in his videos. The legal term is called age of majority. also being emancipated from your parents as a minor means you have to go through the court system so they can give you the official title of adult. I'm capable of drinking alcohol the laws are different for most states I simply can't purchase it since that would be federal law, even if I could purchase it why would I? nothing good comes out of alcohol, it doesn't matter what age you are you're capable of being irresponsible with it.

Ive just started using the ZOOM H6 and its improved my podcast recording ten fold! I was using a 6 channel mixing board. I also used a 6 channel headphone amp so that everyone could hear the audio as we recorded. Can I use multiple headphones with the H6?

No way their getting 10+ hours on 4 aa's if they use phantom power. Couple of hours tops and thats just with one 48v mic. This would make a decent backup recorder but this is not pro. No timecode generator.

...con't. Mid-side has a unique aural quality to it because the fig8 mic does double-duty on recording L&R. The fig8 diaphragm records both sides equally, so it will register a waveform (variance in air density) "push" on one channel as a "pull" on the other, and if both "push" or "pull" at the same time they neutralize! Neat. It has its functional place, but also has an interesting aesthetic appeal; Focused with stereo ambience. Enjoy the H6! Wish I had $400 to blow.

Mid-Side is a wide stereo format if converted properly. The benefit is that if you expect some listeners to be hearing the recording in mono (radio etc) is that phase cancellation becomes less of a problem. Technically; A cardiod microphone records what is happening in front, the "side" microphone is a figure-8 diaphragm perpendicular to the front, recording both sides equally. To acheive stereo the F8 channel is panned hard L&R and inverted on one side so when played in mono they cancel out.
