The first time I used this tool in my stem class I was amazed lol

Coming from a old school shop I’ve used a multitude of measuring instruments. But few compare to a good pair of digital calipers. Thanks Joe

Wow I got a great deal on this caliper, not using much but will have to learn some, didnt want to buy cheap. Nice video well done thanks

Hello, don't know if the website is still current. I use the Mitutoyo digital calipers but wonder if I can change to order in which the data is input to my PC from column to row?

Thank you so much for great review, good day and good luck

does this show fraction also

Does it do fractional inches? My much cheaper Gerneral calipers do, and I find that really handy. It rounds to the nearest 64th of an inch. Very handy for doing conversions as well as measuring
@Neur0bit9 ай бұрын
they do not. you will have to convert it.

These days I'd buy calipers from Mahr or Vogel. About the same price as Mitutoyo, but nicer.

Dial calipers, even though they're easy and quick to read, notoriously have problems with chips and machining debris clogging up the rack gear.... And not only giving an inaccurate measurement, but sometimes even causing a tooth to skip. The digital calipers are infinitely better in that regard!

Plus you can shift the origin on digital saving time doing extra math.

I still prefer the analog Mitutoyo's and I'm not even that old.Whay less need to interpret the reading. Maybe it's just that I've been using them as long as I can remember
@cobraframebuilding5 жыл бұрын
I like analog better if I’m working only in inch or only in metric, but that’s kinda rare in my shop. Trapped in the middle. I need the inch/metric functionality.
@Maikelwilke5 жыл бұрын
@@cobraframebuilding You have analog Mitutoyo's with metric and imperial scales. Mine does up to 7" in 1/128" increments. As I'm from europe and using metric, this comes in real handy sometimes if I cant get a good metric reading, then the inch scales are also there, no need for pressing a button
@xl0004 жыл бұрын
you mean a Vernier where you have to find the two matching lines ? I like those ones two but it's more error prone. Not sure what you mean by interpret the reading

I still prefer micrometers- much more accurate, and the math isn't that hard. Basically calipers are just a fancy steel rule. 😂😂😂
@cobraframebuilding5 жыл бұрын
I agree that micrometers are more accurate, but they're slow and you need six to cover this same size range. I can reliably measure +/- .002" with this and that is almost always good enough for what I do, which is why this is the most *helpful* measurement tool, not the absolute most accurate if time and convenience aren't a consideration. This video is for folks who don't have much experience with precision measuring to help them get perspective about which measurement tools they really need.
