for me 600mm most of the time, 840 as needed with a 1.4TC . Matt whats your opinion of the Nikon Z 100-400 f5.6? have you used one? if so , feedback is appreciated. take Care!

@ nice. That’s the best lens for most! I usually photograph with a 500 f/4 combined with a 1.4TC when needed. My dream lens would be the new 600mm f4 with built in TC. Big money for that though….

@@MattShannonPhoto yes the 600 F4 TC is a real beast! awesome lense no question. For me, i settled on the 600PF & Z8, but now i need to fill that gap from approx 100-400mm. Though, i am Very pleased with the Z8/600pf combo. Love your work - keep it going! take care

I picked up the Sigma 500 5.6 for my Sony A1. From 15- about 75 feet it is perfect. Stunningly sharp and super stable. I’m enjoying watching your videos; thanks for sharing!

I have the 180-600 and sometimes I wish I had a TC. I've mostly been photographing Bald Eagles the past few months at a dam in Maryland and you can only get so close. The rest is up to where the Eagles want to go. Other than that I've been ok with 600.

Excellent video Matt, that combination seems to produce some excellent video and images. As good as it seems I am going to stick with my Nikon gear. I have been considering the new Z50ii for a light weight camera to use with my Z400 4.5. I think it will make a light combo for wildlife with the crop factor giving my a 600mm lens. Thanks again and I am more that happy to follow a Proud Canadian and I really hope more Canadians will support our Canadian KZbinrs. Have a great week and great shooting.

Hey Matt, just something I wanted to look up about 'the smallest Hawk' you mentioned: the Kestrel. I thought it to be the Merlin but it is the Sharp Shinned Hawk that is the smallest. Love the video and your new toy.

I love BC. My travel setup is two A7CR cameras, the 16-35 GM ii, and 70-200 f4 G Macro. I mostly shoot landscapes. But, I've been thinking about what I'll take this year to shoot more wildlife. I have the 70-200 GM II which takes teleconverters well and the 200-600 G which I like. I'd love to have the 300 GM, but just can't seem to pull the trigger to buy that one.

I've been leaving the Z8/500 F4 at home lately and shooting with the Z50II and 400 4.5 combo , with or without TC .. tiny combo , does the job.

Totally! I have the 400mm 4.5 with a TC too and what a sweet combo. I was going to do some comparison shooting with the OM System, but I didn't have enough time. Perhaps in another video.

On some cameras now when shooting in crop mode the screen will flash to warn you how ever jpeg did the same my self a short while back . The pictures were beautiful but I only like to shoot in raw . Nice video. The weather sealing seemed ok on the camera ?

No, I love my Nikon too much. Perhaps if I was on a budget.... The OM system is a fraction of the cost for my Nikon gear. Maybe when I'm older and weight is an issue.

JPEG in LF is not even the best JPEG, that's LSF (large superfine) Ooops I bet you kicked yourself! My main interest however is how much of an improvement is the Sync IS in the field?

Yeah, I was pretty angry with myself the first day. So many great shots to be had and I made the biggest mistake lol! In regards to the Sync IS, I pulled this off of their website: "5-Axis sync IS up to 7.0 stops EV A new addition to this lens is the 5-axis sync IS, offering stabilisation of up to 7.0 stops EV when paired with compatible OM SYSTEM camera bodies."
