That fluid head didn't look steady in the footage though. It had some jitters. I don't know if that was down to the frame rate or actually the tripod head?
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
It is shot in 23.98p with no IS activated on the iphone to make sure I'm not hiding anything. Shutter angle at 180. I agree if you look at the far buildings hard vertical lines against the contrast sky, it looks "jittery", but I would say thats more or less the artifact of filming in 24p and looking at straight vertical lines far away from the shot. If you look at other parts of the image thats closer to the fore and midground you won't really see that motion jitter. Part of it is perspective from the camera when not shooting at 30-60p and how much a object shifts from a slow pan in only 24 frames. Technicals aside, the fluid head is very smooth. It could benefit even more if the handle was able to extend for very critical pan/tilt movements.

@@TLDR_filmmaker I don't doubt your integrity just to be clear! I've been a fan of your content for a long time (I used to do photography videos on here myself so appreciate the work that goes into creating these) and it certainly looks a good tripod. There's also the downside of KZbin compression just wanted to be clear as it is a product I would definitely look to buy. Always useful to have a compact tripod with a fluid head .. I film a lot of my daughter at climbing too and imagine this would be a useful occasional addition.
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Ah sorry if I came off defense, wasn't my intent. Yea I wonder sometimes how youtube's ever changing compression methods work. Also not sure if 24p content being displayed on a 60hz screen sometimes makes things a little jittery in general without showing the motion blur accurately. Definitely with this tripod I'd like to try and film more episodes outdoors. With the fluid head and how small/light it is. I don't feel as inconvenienced anymore with my regular long and heavy tripods. Thanks again for your viewership and chat!

Look at that Osmo getting in it's workout :D Cool tripod
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
It sure did! Was really fun to use for this video. Hopefully will find other ways to use it in other videos because it was really easy and quick to setup shots instead of lugging around my big camera and a tripod everywhere!

The base plate is an amazing feature. If i didn't already have 3 travel tripods I'd get one.
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
I agree the baseplate functionality is gold! Though the good news is theoretically a company can just make manfrotto or arca swiss plates with built in cellphone functionality.... free ideas for Neewer lol

My biggest problem with off-the-shelf cell phone mounts is they don't have a way of Shifting the center of rotation or holding the phone stably in a non centered configuration. So if you horizontally pan one you get a weird parallax as if you were pivoting on one foot or walking in a small circle.
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Fair point. I guess for those you'll need to put it on your own QR plate and make sure its centered underneath the column of the tripod.

The twist out legs are awesome
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Sure makes it quick! If they ever make a second version it would be interesting if they are able to make a internal clamp system that feeds to one master clamp on each leg. That would make deployment and height adjustments super quick!
@RowanHawkins11 ай бұрын
Are you able to extend a section partially or are you limited to full sections only? Can you only extend some sections?
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Yes you can extend a leg partially. Each individual section can be twist locked to your height needs.

You don't know what you are missing until you use a good travel tripod, nice review
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Hey hey! It's been awhile! Truly did not know what I missing. Especially because I may be acquiring a Pana G9ii real soon and having this Travel Tripod will make filming outdoor content with the G9ii a joy!
@leemjdaley11 ай бұрын
@@TLDR_filmmaker Oooo nice, I do like the look of the G9ii. Yes it's been a while, busy making films and now starting my YT channel properly

The biggest miss for me is not incorporating a cold shoe at the top of the phone holder. Anyhow, I see you're using that Pocket 3 pretty well in this review. :)
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Mmm yea that woulda been nice. Unfortunately theres probably not enough clearance underneath the Arca Swiss to have that cold shoe. There are Quarter 20's along the top area just underneath the ballhead where you could potentially screw in a cold shoe, but that may be a bit far for some cables to reach. I'll have to think if there is another place to put one. Otherwise for those that have the full DJI mic 2 kit can just plug the RX to the phone and call it a day... but I do love my RODE W. PRO with timecode.
@mrheng56211 ай бұрын
@@TLDR_filmmaker , yup! I was thinking of that for those who have Rode Wireless systems. Or, those with shotgun mic. I love my Sennheiser MKE200. It’s so tiny!!!

@TLDR FIlmmaker, Good to see content from you as always. Happy LNY! I’m seeing a lot or content on this Freewell T1 tripod but not on iFootage TC3B. The fluid head on FW is more versatile but the K3 seems more smooth. My only issue with the TC3B is that it doesn’t have a center column for more stability but limiter to 140cm which is a bit low. Have you tried out the TC3B yet compared to T1?
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
Hey hey! Thanks! Happy LNY to you too! Unfortunately I have not had any experience with the iFootage travel tripods.
@Bladeclaw001007 ай бұрын
Very nice tripod. Except it's a smooth axis lockable rotating ball head. There are no ball bearings which means it's not a fluid head. You can't control the drag resistance with it either to stabilize the movement. Fluid heads are also designed to have a smoother ease in and ease out to the motion. This tripod is smooth but the ease in and out heavily depends on the pressure you apply. Other than that this tripod does have a few things that make it stand out.

I just dont think its woth the 300 upgrade
@TLDR_filmmaker11 ай бұрын
I'd say its really just for travelers only using small to small camera setups. Up until now I always found it cumbersome to bring my other tripods with me when I do outdoor episodes. Wasn't really fun to shoot those episodes trying to lug something large (when folded) and heavy around the parks. The smooth fluid head I think is what's potentially driving up the price. All other travel tripods I've seen are similar in weight, build, but just has a regular ballhead. Great if you don't plan to have any camera movements. With this tripod I am more apt to want to shoot more episodes outdoors now. Was a pleasure to use and didn't feel like I was drawing much attention to myself while carrying it around folded.
