I've currently got this beautiful ‪@tomquayleguitar‬ Signature Ibanez guitar on loan to test out some new pickups. Loads of you probably know already but Tom was my teacher and close friend! I thought I'd try and play some of his style of lines on it (😬). He recently posted an amazing etude on his IG that I think is super beautiful, but also super difficult to play haha! I wrote a little arrangement around it and then there's my own solo at the end! Hope you guys enjoy!

I really don't understand how people get this flawless and fast. When I am improvising I am so Occupied in thinking what to play. Even if I play some memorised Lick It doesn't sound so flawless. Things become disaster when I try to play with rhythm.

So an Etude is a study. What technique is this etude practicing? Not trying to troll, but I'm a classical guitarist just trying to figure out if this is an actual etude, or just a short piece.

I guess you could consider this both a small piece of music and a study. It’s a real workout for your legato technique across some awkward position shifts.

How to get such a great sound recording on the first execution , seems guitar was doubled .... any ideas ?

Hey man! The first round of the line is doubled by a synth (one octave lower I think), but there are no doubled guitars on this. I’m using the Fortin Cali Suite by Neural DSP for tone! 🤟

@@alessandro9740 Well, they really all worth for me, specially for the legato and hybrid picking technique , but worth or not will depend on your level , style , goals, etc. What you could do to get decided before purchase, may be to search on youtube his free or sample lessons , then to have a great idea of what's that lesson about. @@nickpenacl_ nice! i actually never bought any lesson before, i still think which one should i buy anyway, the only thing i can recommend to you is Solo App by Tom Quayle, its very good app for practice scales, arpeggios and learning fretboard imo (the method he use here is very different than most people's method) you actually can use his method without buying the app, but the app is still useful for practicing
