Wish we didn't have to buy two Evo Max drones for this.... Like, can we just get a much cheaper drone to hold the signal relay and then just get one EvoMax?

With actually decent antennas and actually decent output power a relay isn’t even necessary. Even more so if you use better licensed frequencies.
