There are people whose jobs are to respond to situations like this. If this guy ever needs the help of emergency services for himself, because of his motivation for storm chasing, his presence makes him a liability to emergency responders and endangers every local resident and person on the road.
@StormChaserMaci. Жыл бұрын
@@Claire_eq311 We call the NWS & police. When a trained storm chaser like me calls, it triggers the EAS in less than 3 minutes usually (tornado warning on your phone & radios like at 6:50,) & the sirens. If we see someone hurt the chase stops. People come first before the chase does.

Glad you & Reed were able to help this trucker. He's very lucky. I was watching that live stream from Reed's car when it happened. Our job as chasers is to get the warnings out. We don't just do it for fun. Here's how it works: if one of us spots a tornado we call the NWS. They then verify our call sign/SKYWARN id/spotter id. From there we tell them what is going on & then the EAS & Sirens are triggered very fast usually less than 3 minutes. We are responsible for bringing you the warnings on your phones/radios. If the NWS issues a tornado warning it's nearly always because of one of us having eyes on it. If they issue a tornado warning based on radar we will rapidly respond & investigate then report back whether there's a tornado or not. If one gets confirmed it triggers a PDS (particularly dangerous situation) then emergency services are deployed.

@StormChaserMaci.7 ай бұрын
@@Cadyyy768 Trained storm chasers for the National Weather Service hold a major responsibility to protect people and get warning out. Only about 300,000 storm chasers in the entire United States are legitimately trained and trusted for sure by the NWS compared to hundreds of thousands who will chase as a hobby. Trained storm chasers are capable of self forecasting and pinpointing exactly where and when a storm is likely to happen days to even a week before it occurs using models instead of news. None of what we do is easy, and we are responsible for protecting everyone we can from storms. I have this responsibility every day. I just happen to be one of them, and I will chase personally for the NWS in Texas.

This is the first but not the last of your videos I've watched. Im 72 years old, live pretty much in Tornado Alley and have never seen a tornado in person so I watch these videos to learn and be prepared. But that is not the reason I'm making this comment. I'm commenting because it is so refreshing to see someone, especially a young person such as yourself, produce exciting content with great narration without having to bleep every third word. or in the case of so many others, NOT bleep anything. I can blast with the best of them if necessary, it's just that I very rarely feel it necessary and it is so tiring to try and watch an otherwise exciting video with every profanity available thrown in the mix. Keep up the good work.
