I have an old friend who’s niece got cancer last year. She was a baby, less than a year old. The only treatment offered wasn’t working and the family was told to take her home and experience all the could because they gave her very little time to live. The doctors said she would not make it to Christmas nor her first birthday. They did get to share her first and only Christmas here on earth and she made it through her first birthday in January but died soon after. As a mom, I don’t know that I could survive the death of my child. Cancer is such a terrible disease and it is worse seeing children deal with those struggles. Their lives have only begun here on earth. Sad thing is, is that in the grand scheme of things, little money is spent on research for childhood cancers. Every October, everything is covered in pink, including many of the products in our grocery stores, for breast cancer awareness month and breast cancer has one of the highest survivor’s rate. I think it is great that so much is done for breast cancer but it would also be nice to see other cancers get more light on them, especially childhood cancer. Many don’t know that childhood cancer awareness month is September and the color is gold. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with or have a love one dealing with cancer. 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️

I lost my brother in Feb of this year from cancer. He was only 51. My mom passed with lung cancer in 05. I watched her go from a vibrate woman to being sick and suffering. I took her to her radiation and chemo appts all the time. I will never forget that. Every time I hear this one I break down. Thank you for doing this one.

This one hit real hard for me. I lost my dad when he was 47 to brain cancer, My younger brother to leukimia when he was 30 and my mom a year later at age 60 to skin cancer. Got the word that our 26 yr old son had stage 4 testicular cancer and it was a huge blow knowing that none of my other family members beat it. He has always been a fighter and hard headed and was determined to be the first in the family to beat it and knock on wood so far he has. He is now 30 almost 31 but he went thru a hell of a battle for 2 1/2 years. They told us at the beginning that he had a 50% chance of surviving. Took him 2 1/2 years of chemo, 4 surgeries and his own stem cells re-transplanted in him but he is here now and seems to be stronger than ever. It was 3 years of hell but we seem to be at a good spot right now. I cried like a baby when i first heard this song. It seems like they have gotten better at fighting it but there still is a long way to go. I pray for a cure!

Everyone has probably lost someone or knows someone who has fought with Cancer. Heart breaking. Tom keeping it real as always. When days are bad this is also a good reminder that it can always be worse. And we never know when we may face it. Be strong no matter what. Love those that are near and love those suffering and fighting. Support them in whatever way possible.

love this song it hits home for me....its true an hard to watch loved ones go threw it. Lost some to it an went threw it with my son when he was 4 an got diagnosed with TCell ALL. He is also special needs with Autism. So was hard since he did not talk alot at that time. Hard to explain to him why he needed what he did. Worst yrs of my life tho he is now 10 yrs in remission, an thankful everyday that he is. Still so scary thinking it could come back , one my biggest fears. Nothing like watching your child or loved one in pain or sick, an know there nothing u can do to help them get better. Makes you feel so frustrated and helpless.

Tom's grandmother beat cancer a week before this video came out. His grandfather had passed 10 years prior as cancer beat him. Storytime: After the mourning of his grandfather's death, Tom's Father thought that a good bonding event would help the family. So they went whitewater rafting. After the first mini waterfall there was a 2nd nobody was prepared for. As everyone got tossed and getting stuck with another raft Tom was vertical with the raft but he was going to drown so he let go of the boat and everyone was accounted for except his grandmother. They floated down stream where she was waiting for everyone at the riverbank. The pass is now named after his grandmother.

Let me say first hand cause I lost my mom she was only 59 had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Did a 6 hrs surgery she was cut from top to belly. Did chemo and radiation all together. And I still lost her..the news is numbing it breaks u she passed in 2014 I STILL struggle with it..I pray for everyone I really do. God bless u all. Life's short. Its a sad thing to think about but it doesnt make it go away, if more ppl talked and thought about it and picked each other up a little bit here and there, big changes arent made by big actions, not at the beginning of change. Yeah, this song hit right in the feels. I remember how small the room felt and it was like all the oxygen was sucked out of the room when I got the diagnosis. Thyroid cancer. The next several months were long and scary, but the hardest thing was hearing at 23 that something could potentially kill me. That was the hardest. In your teens and 20s, you feel bulletproof. I mean, you're young and most likely have a lot of life ahead of you right? Your own mortality isn't on your radar. But through it all, it was the gift of time that saved me when I discovered the tumor. It was purely accidental that I found it and my oncologist said that it likely would have spread to my lungs next had I not discovered it. So that accident was a blessing and I'm here writing this because of it. September of 2021 was 19 years cancer free and I have done a lot of living in those years. I've gotten married, fathered 3 children, and have more success than I could ever have imagined. I'm blessed more than I ever deserved. Thanks for reacting to this Greg. I'd not heard it, even though I've been listening to Tom for a few years. I thought I'd heard everything. And damn...he and Nova really conveyed the subject well. Thanks again. ✌️

That video was deep. It is not something we really want to think about. Everything about cancer is hard. I am sure there is not a person on the earth who has not been affected in some way by cancer. Cancer sucks. Why the drastic increase? Like Tom said, our air, water, or food could be the cause. Chemicals that are known to cause cancer and disease are still allowed to be sprayed on our foods, which pollutes the soil, water and air. I love Tom's message though, to fight and not give up. Cancer is not a death sentence. It can be beat. I know many people who have beat cancer and are living full, healthy lives.

Cancer sucks I have cervical cancer and it’s just me and my daughter no family no friends no father so no help and now after one surgery they say I need to have another more serious one but I cannot afford it nor can I afford to be out of work for months but if something happens to me my daughter is all alone so for me I’m torn and don’t know what to do it’s sick it really is and I’m all alone I legit have no one but my daughter and now to make matters worse I have been so sick lately and of course the only car we have is so old and now also broke for good and cannot be fixed and I can’t get us another safe more reliable one to get to my appts shopping my daughter to school nothing now it’s like how much more can I truly take I’m so sad and lonely and I have no one at all but my daughter but I can’t talk to her about everything either so it kills me but hey that’s life and it’s real shit ppl going thru it is horrible but ppl need to know they do it’s sad but it is life and life’s too short and u never know u really don’t pls take it from me ask my daughter how she feels and it will break your heart I’m sure

2:58 "why is that". Because when we were starting research we thought it is the same shit, just in different parts of the body. Than we found out that yeah... it starts with the same mechanizm but there are dozens and dozens of types of cancer. And we have some drugs that work waaaaaaaaaaay better with some types of cancer because we focused on it. But argument of greed doesn't work when we can't create functioning prostate cancer test kit and we really try.
