I didn’t know Dinant had this museum, it seems like a really good one. I was born in Brussels, grew up in the Walloon Brabant and lived in Namur for a few years so I went to Dinant many times. It’s a very nice town. If you travel along the Meuse river (I've done this many times by bike) there’s a lot of nice rock climbing spots, the biggest one being Freyr, south of Dinant 😊

Hey! Thanks for the comment:) I love climbing so I'll keep this in mind. I'm sure it's beautiful. Missing Belgium right about now...

Great job with this video, Oliver. It certainly portrays both the beauty and charm of Dinant and WHY it was called “unlucky”.

Great video, Oliver. I'm glad you enjoyed Dinant as much as I did on the occasions I visited. I stayed in the Hotel Sax, but I don't think it's still there? The train journey down from Namur is delightful as is the whole of that part of the Ardennes. I learned a lot from watching this which I hadn't known and I enjoyed sharing your discoveries.

wish I had gotten back to you sooner, Chris! Wow, you’ve really been around haven’t you? You sound like a guy I could ask for travel advice from down the line. Thanks again:)

Welcome in Belgium , little land but so much to visit and to taste in gastronomy , must be carefully for « couques de Dinant » , you must have strong teeth😂😂 Kisses from Brussels

I’ve heard so much about them now that next time I visit I’ll be sure to try them, and cautiously too😂 My father, a dentist, will be only a phone call away. Thanks for the comment

The Couques de Dinant have provided extra work for many dentists since 1860. If you are happy with your teeth and want to keep them: don't even try the couques. You have been warned.

Belgian waffle as such does not exist. The one you had is more like a Brussels style ( gauffre de Bruxelles ) and the other famous one is the gauffre de Liège .

@@OliverPriemer Never knew that either. According to Google: Why do they call them Belgian waffles? They caught on stateside after the 1964 World's Fair in New York City, when Maurice Vermersch of Brussels set up a stand and doled out the sweet treats to visitors. He was going to name them Brussels waffles, but he switched to Belgian waffles because he figured most Americans didn't know where Brussels was on a map. Awesome travel video!

In France, you would have free tap water, not in Belgium, you would have to pay for water. In summer, you may try kayaking the river Lesse ( the bus from Dinant would drive you up to Givet and or Gendron). When you head back to Dinant by the river Lesse you will fall in love with Sleeping beauty castle "Walzin" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHKVopptbatojZo
