My wife is from Xanten. Spent many good times there. It’s also from where Varus and his legions went off to their doom.

@@EllieandLucas it’s a nice town for sure! My son loved having grandparents there and of course we had spaghetti ice cream too! The cathedral museum is pretty incredible too. Can’t wait to get back to see family.

Went their as a kid with school and recently started studying ancient Rome again during my summer break. Might take the 40 min drive there this summer actually. Great video which got me interested in the place again!

I loved the video :-) It is weird that Xanten is so beautiful when you two show it and I always thought it was nothing special when I was there every day^^

@@EllieandLucas The new beauty in his city was you, Ellie, and it dissapeared again with your departure. ;)

Oh my goodness, In the very last video that I had watched of yours I had mentioned that my favorite ice cream is Spaghetti Eis. Low and behold, you had mentioned Spaghetti Eis in your video. I am still laughing lol. I mention Spaghetti Eis quite often. I hope that you check out my Spaghetti Eis playlist sometime. Xanten is a place that I had never heard of until this video so thanks for sharing. I will surely put Xantem on my list of travels. I would love to see and investigate this rich history without a doubt. If it is not too late I would love to receive a postcard from Xanten, that would be awesome.

Near Xanten (= Colonia Ulpia Traiana or CUT; Romans loved abbreviations), namely in Birten, existed the Roman camp "Vetera", in which around 8,000 to 10,000 Roman soldiers were permanently stationed in the first century AD. From there, the three legions of Varus began their campaign to Germania, which ended in their total annihilation during the battle of the Teutoburg Forest (actually in Kalkriese north of Osnabrück). Also Xanten was the home of Siegfried, the Dragon slayer and famous hero of the Niblung saga.

Thanks for the history! That is good to know. I never really knew that Romans had military bases in Germany. Also, I referenced Siegfried in these two videos! Check them out! kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ6wnoVueJ2kZpo kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZWVhXivq62id6s I thought it was so cool when I found ties to him in Xanten!

The masks are disturbing.

Thanks for watching our video! We believe in doing our part to keep others safe and healthy. Although we also have to get more used to wearing them, it is a necessity right now.

@@EllieandLucas I understand what you're saying. It's just that society got faceless since they introduced the masks.

I like that they hide acne, and bad breath, and how super creative they can be. I have always wanted to get a cat nose and wisker mask, but haven't found one I liked yet.
