These smaller utility tractors were built in Plymouth, Ohio from 1934 to 1954, and were originally known as Plymouth until a lawsuit from the Chrysler Corporation prompted a name change. Terry Leonard doesn’t have just one Silver King, but three! Terry shares his passion for these tractors and the history on his three machines. As a kid in the late 50s and early 60s my best friends father had a silver king with one big wheel in the front. I remember he used to brag about how fast it was. I had forgotten all about that till now. Great video!

What sweet little tractors. Them, and LeRoi and Centaur were in a league of their own. Not many small companies could produce a unibody or stressed block tractor, but they all pulled it off quite well.

Built just about 10 miles east of me. There’s quite of few of them hiding in barns around here. They do have a pretty good road gear for their time.

We had one when I was 10 years old in 1961. Had the "bull nose", headlights and a single front wheel. Dad bought it in a auction had a spraying rig on it. He took it off-on, plowed, raked, disked, cultivated, baled hay... He even bought a "thrasher" that used the belt drive. Dad loved it. It went with the farm when it was sold. Went back years later to find it but no one had seen it. Fond memories. Is there a club or association of Silver King owners/lovers?

Friend of mine has a 1936 R38. Beautiful tractor. Runs perfect. It is a great parade machine. Weve pulled with it in the small tractor pulls and it does very well.

That things screaming along at 25+ mph (looks faster). Pretty much most tractors at the time (like the 8N fords Farmalls and such) would only do about 15 or 16. Heck, even today most modern tractors top out at about 30 or 35mph.
@FarmallForever
@FarmallForever 5 жыл бұрын
@@kenarnold9132 M Farmalls would do 18mph from the factory and H farmalls would do 16 mph most farmers opened the governor up on them also.

Something not mentioned is that Chrysler lost the lawsuit because the owner of the switching engine company had used the name "Plymouth" on trucks and a single Plymouth automobile in 1910...a full 18 years before Chrysler did.
