Im heading to the beach early tomorrow. Will try out your pinpointing technique. The odd bit of falsing iron where im heading so ill be keen to see how it goes. Looks positive from your video Steve. 👌

Let me know if it works for you. Keen to see if it’s as reliable for others as it is for me, and whether or not there are any patterns. Do odd shaped targets cause the red ferrous indications with target ID more than Regular shaped items for example…

I still use the 800 and appreciate the tips you have posted for that machine. Great trick for the Manticore. Cheers from Michigan. 👍

Another good day on the coil Steve. Congrats on all the coins. I have found I have to clean up the post 46 silvers in CLR to stop that copperness coming through. Good luck on the next outing 😁👍

Thanks mate! I’ll give the CLR a try on my next post 46 silver, and see how it compares.

It’s a great help, I’ve found it’s 90%, but like you say the near by targets could cause confusion. I wish I had a beach with that many old targets to find, thanks for sharing

ive found using the electrolosis on silver its best to just dip in the bath no more than 30sec at a time just untill u loosen the grey deposite on the survice that way you dont get the removal of silver that puts all those horrid dimples on your coin,the more you leave it in the bath the more silver is eaten away,when its loose use bycarb powder paste to clean try not to clean till shiny with practice you can leave some patina on the coin.

Good advice. I actually like the grey patina that 92.5% silver coins develop over time, but those crusty 50% silvers take a lot of effort to clean sometimes…

Here's my tip for you, grab a scoop and pin-pointer next time :) I bet you will visit this beach multiple times. It is a treasure trove. It looks like your tip is an indication of shape more than metal content. You had a brass and aluminum target give you the red indication. These are non-ferrous metals, but they were irregular in shape.

Great tip - thanks Dan 🤣 I’ll definitely be going back! I have a lot more testing to do with regard to this trick. The item I thought was aluminium was actually a hinge of some type (identified after some cleaning), with an iron component. The screw I believe to be brass, but I could be wrong…

Believe it or not, it’s a $30 eBay digger I purchased many years ago. Unfortunately it’s no longer available to buy, but it’s made of a spring steel type material so it’s durable.

Probably the better question is why is the manticore telling us it’s a non-ferrous target at all? With my nox 800 would have been set by default to discriminate that bolt out completely and I wouldn’t have even heard it unless I went into all metal mode.
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting Ай бұрын
The large screw was brass (not iron), so that’s why it was showing as non-ferrous. I suspect the trick is more about the shape of the target as much as its composition…

I find a lot more than others on the beach here in the uk due to coverage off the beach. If I adopted this trick, I wouldn't move more than a few hundred yards. These tricks are all well and good for a KZbin video but they are simply not practical A FEW seconds, dig or not, move. Simply

I covered about 200m of the beach on this day. Granted it’s slower in some ways, but seems to help with those deeper targets.
