This TROLL Level is VERY SCARY (and Also a RED ROOM)

Decided to check out The Red Room, which is a troll level that I briefly saw Carl play (but still blind for the most part). Also had another troll level by Stevo that actually broke my brain.

Oh my god, I think this is the first confusing troll gimmick that I figured out on my own! The chat member who said "You got CP2 then died" confirmed my suspicion: it's not as complicated as it seems. Basically the creators duplicated the checkpoint room (creating CP2) and the left part of the subsequent snake-block room (next to the flag). In the original CP1 room, the breakable blocks above the checkpoint are used for the "return to CP1" that you get when you jump up in the flag room, but in the CP2 room, they connect to the bonefish-cannon room above (the one with two red cannons next to each other). When you get trolled by the shell and the on-off block in that room, revealing the door you can't get to, you jump down into the pit, assuming it's the bottom of the level. But a couple of frequently-used sound effects mask the sound of CP2 being collected offscreen before you're killed by another hazard. Then you respawn at CP2, assume you're at CP1, take the door to the flag room, jump, and miss the flag! The door you can't get to in the bonefish-cannon room, which of course you can get to by being fast or with a trickshot, serves as the dev skip used to clear the level before posting it. (There's always a dev skip in levels with death gimmicks like deceptive checkpoints or progressive powerups; it must be possible to clear them deathless in order to post them.)

The second level checkpoint system I'm not entirely sure but I think it's true. At the section with the 2 bullet bill launchers, a buzzy beetle and on off switch. Right before you die, you activate cp2 which sends you to the flag

That is correct The thing with auto scrolling levels is that you can be 2 blocks below the screen before you can die if that part is not the very bottom of the level --> hidden checkpoint and the fact sound effects overwrite the checkpoint sound so you can't hear it
